Ninja Gaiden 4 Offers “A Very Robust Amount of Content” With Ryu Hayabusa

At Gamescom’s recent event, _Ninja Gaiden 4_ is impressing more and more with its improved visuals. Set to launch in October, one may wonder to what extent players will be able to take control of the game’s long-standing protagonist, Ryu Hayabusa, as Yakumo has been prominently featured.

According to an interview with IGN, Masazaku Hirayama (co-director from Team Ninja) explained that as Yakumo is the main character, he tends to have more screen time. Despite this, Ryu Hayabusa will still be playable in specific parts of the game, which are promised to provide a substantial amount of content for players to enjoy.

Most of the game narrative will have you controlling Yakumo, but don’t worry, there are substantial parts of the story dedicated to Ryu as well. You won’t only get to play as Ryu Hayabusa for a brief period and then move on; instead, you can expect an abundance of content dedicated to playing as Ryu. With an estimated gameplay duration of 15 to 20 hours, around seven to nine hours will be spent playing as Ryu.

If you’re looking to explore the entire game from both characters’ perspectives, the Chapter Challenge is what you need! This feature gives you the freedom to replay various chapters in the game, allowing you to switch between playing as Ryu or Yakumo. So, once you finish your initial playthrough, you can go back and play through all the chapters again as Ryu. Alternatively, you could opt to experience Yakumo’s story chapters after that. Essentially, there’s plenty of additional content for you to enjoy following your first run-through, according to Hirayama.

The content encompasses elements like Purgatory, optional battles akin to Trials of Valor, and Challenge Missions featuring earlier defeated bosses with the Death Wish modifier that eliminates all upgrades. The Master Ninja level of challenge is back, but for new players, there’s an option called Hero Mode to gradually immerse themselves into the action.

The highly anticipated release of Ninja Gaiden 4 is set for October 21st across platforms such as Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers (PC). For a deeper glimpse into the gameplay, you can find it detailed elsewhere.
