Star Wars, one of history’s grandest and cherished franchises, has held audiences spellbound for close to five decades. Although the Skywalker Saga often takes center stage in various projects, the galaxy’s expanse continues to be populated with fresh series and films that delve into different eras and corners of the universe. From the raw, rebellious backdrop of “Star Wars: Andor” to the New Republic-centric tales like “Star Wars: Ahsoka” and “Star Wars: The Mandalorian”, fans are immersed in a variety of engaging narratives reminiscent of the originals. With an expansive galaxy teeming with numerous characters from diverse Star Wars platforms, there remain many stories yet to unfold on screen.
It’s high time for these three characters to have standalone series that bring new angles and unexplored stories to the Star Wars universe.
3. Qui-Gon Jinn
Qui-Gon Jinn, a unique and spiritually deep Jedi Master, played a crucial part in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” Unlike the strict Jedi Council, he was wise, innovative, and had a profound understanding of the Force. A series focusing on his early adventures as a young Jedi Knight, his time training under Count Dooku, or events leading to Anakin Skywalker’s discovery could offer fans a fresh perspective on the Jedi Order’s beliefs and the mysteries of the Force through an unconventional Jedi lens.
Intrigued by this potential saga, I can’t help but wonder about Qui-Gon Jinn – a character whose unique take on the Force has always intrigued me. Did he adopt this perspective early in his Jedi life or were there specific incidents that molded his philosophy? Might it be the clash with ancient prophecies, like the one concerning the Chosen One, or his encounters with diverse cultures across the galaxy, each interpreting the Force differently, that shaped him into the exceptional Jedi we know?
A series centering around Qui-Gon would not only breathe new life into a cherished character but also provide valuable insights about the events preceding the prequel trilogy. By illustrating Qui-Gon as the embodiment of subtle changes within the Jedi Order, such a story would shed light on the transformations that eventually led to its demise.
2. Padmé Amidala
During the prequel era, Padmé Amidala’s political acumen, steadfast moral integrity, and relentless dedication to democracy were key aspects of her character. However, her emotional turmoil with Anakin Skywalker often overshadows these other dimensions. The untold stories revolve around Padmé’s life as a senator and her strong relationships with her handmaidens.
Building upon E.K. Johnston’s “Queen’s Trilogy” book series- Queen’s Shadow, Queen’s Peril, and Queen’s Hope– a narrative could delve into her formative years as a young queen, her political evolution, and her subsequent rise to the Galactic Senate. This series would highlight less-explored aspects of Padmé’s character and provide a fresh perspective on this complex and intriguing figure from the Star Wars universe.
A spin-off of this nature would illuminate the intricacies of galactic politics much like how Andor did with Mon Mothma’s leadership struggles and personal life. However, what might be particularly captivating is delving into the often underestimated role that Padmé’s handmaidens played – not just as protectors, but as confidantes, political strategists, and her most intimate friends. Such a series would address shortcomings in the prequels by emphasizing Padmé’s political influence over her romantic relationships, highlighting her courage, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to justice.
1. Cal Kestis
Jedi Fallen Order” and its sequel “Jedi: Survivor,” is a youthful survivor of Order 66 who embarks on a mission to revive the Jedi Order. On his journey, he gathers an assortment of unusual and quirky companions, forming an unconventional family. Cal’s tale encompasses intricate character growth, thrilling lightsaber battles, and interactions with both fresh and familiar faces in the Star Wars universe, such as Darth Vader. Transitioning Cal to live-action would be a logical advancement for his character and an exciting prospect for fans who have long wondered where they might encounter Cal within the Disney+ realm of the Star Wars universe.
In a live-action format, this series could either retell the game stories or serve as an extension, delving into the ongoing tribulations of our protagonist, a Jedi Knight, as he navigates his complex past, matures in his role, and battles the Galactic Empire relentlessly. This environment would offer a rich platform to scrutinize his intricate bonds with his crew, strengthened by their live-action portrayal; probe the depths of his bond with the Force; and investigate the hardships that come with being a fugitive Jedi in a universe where hope is hard to find.
