Mighty Ducks’ Joshua Jackson & Marguerite Moreau Reunite for NHL Draft

Joshua Jackson and Marguerite Moreau are proving that ducks always fly together.

30 years after our initial adventure in the 1992 “Mighty Ducks” film, I had the privilege of reuniting with my fellow child stars to rekindle the spirit that made us a team. We graced the stage at the 2025 NHL Draft, where we announced the Anaheim Ducks’ first-round pick on June 27 at L.A. Live’s Peacock Theater. It was an honor to stand together again, representing our love for hockey and the bond we share as teammates.

As they stepped onto the stage to reveal the latest lucky duck, Marguerite excitedly said, “Here we go, let’s get moving!” Joshua then asked, “What’s the vibe tonight, hockey enthusiasts?

Speaking of the movie, he mentioned that their equipment was makeshift, they had no coach, and it seemed unlikely they’d win until they got help – much like the character Gordon Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez in the film. Thirty-three years ago, Disney produced a movie about an underdog peewee hockey team from District 5, as Marguerite completed his thought.

I couldn’t believe it! It morphed into discussions about Flying V guitars, knuckle pucks, and perhaps even a truly remarkable Triple D!

To cheers from the crowd, Joshua stepped in, exclaiming, “Man it’s good to be here tonight!”

Here it goes: “Hey there, Ducks supporters! It’s time to get excited. In the 2025 NHL Draft with our 10th overall pick, let me introduce you to our newest player, Roger McQueen, who comes to us from the Brandon Wheat Kings.

In a rephrased form, The actor famous for his role in “Dawson’s Creek” (and now a father of a 5-year-old girl named Juno with his former wife Jodie Turner-Smith) joined other celebrities like Alex Cooper, The Goo Goo Dolls, T.J. Oshie, Jerry Bruckheimer, Charles Barkley, Isaiah Mustafa, and others to announce the draft picks for the other teams. This way, the text is more natural and easier to read.

This morning, the duo strolled the NHL Draft’s crimson carpet donning identical Anaheim Ducks uniforms, beaming at enthusiastic spectators. On this red carpet, Josh and Marguerite seized an opportunity to express their feelings about this memorable occasion.

In a video on the Anaheim Ducks’ Instagram, Josh expressed that it was amazing for him to be involved in making someone else’s dream come true, even though he didn’t earn his own participation.

Reflecting on that moment, I quipped, “At thirteen, I believed my name would be called out, but if this is the closest I manage, I’m content with that.

Marguerite echoed his sentiment, saying she felt touched to be a part of such a special moment.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled beyond words to embody the spirit of the Ducks. It’s an immense privilege to be associated with this vibrant community that calls Orange County home – or as some might say, Orange Country!

Apart from her excitement, she also cherished being reunited with the hockey community and deepening her understanding of the intricacies surrounding the draft. Moreover, she expressed a sentiment that it was as if she was receiving another glimpse into an exceptionally unique aspect of this beloved sport.

On June 24th, the hockey team posted excitedly on Instagram alongside Marguerite, using the caption “The duck duo returns, Jack!” as they showcased a visual depiction of the two together.

48-year-old Marguerite subtly suggested the upcoming reunion before the formal declaration, stirring excitement among fans with a video that hinted at news concerning the franchise.

In her June 24 video, she mentioned, “I’m enjoying another cup of coffee while pondering about something thrilling that’s happening at 3 PM today. I wanted to share this news with everyone – my darlings, my dear followers, my admirers.

Enthusiasts promptly shared their eagerness through their comments, with one individual remarking, “I, as a millennial, am all set and eager!

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must acknowledge the captivating allure of Emilio Estevez, a shining star from the iconic “Brat Pack” who graced the silver screen in timeless classics like “The Outsiders,” “The Breakfast Club,” and “St. Elmo’s Fire.” His addition to the cast of “The Mighty Ducks” as Gordon Bombay, a once-prominent lawyer reduced to coaching a motley crew for community service, was nothing short of brilliant.

Following his roles in the second film in 1994 and a cameo in the third movie in 1996, Emilio Estevez shifted focus towards directing. He directed episodes for popular series like Cold Case, CSI, and Criminal Minds, and later moved on to feature films such as Bobby, The Way, and The Public. Although he mostly stepped away from acting, a 2017 report by British betting site PartyCasino declared him the most profitable leading male actor – keep up the great work, Emilio!

When Disney+ announced the reboot of “The Mighty Ducks,” fans were ecstatic to hear that Estevez would be part of the series. In fact, the 57-year-old actor expressed his excitement by saying, “Being a Duck never changes! After a gap of 25 years, I can’t wait to put on my skates again, don Coach Bombay’s jacket, and reprise my role as the beloved character in this fresh installment of The Mighty Ducks series.

In November, it was confirmed by TopMob News that Estevez would not reappear in season two because of a disagreement regarding the production company’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Come on, it’s Joshua Jackson. Need we say more?

Following his successful stint as Charlie Conway – the spirit, leader, and essence of the Ducks – Jackson secured an even more prominent role as Pacey Witter, a cherished character on the classic teen show Dawson’s Creek. While working on this series, he had a romance with his co-star Katie Holmes and featured in movies such as Cruel Intentions and The Skulls.

After appearing in Fox’s popular sci-fi show “Fringe” for six seasons and wrapping up a nearly century-long episode run, Jackson also starred in another hit series on Showtime, “The Affair.” During this period, he was in a ten-year relationship with Diane Kruger. However, the duo parted ways in 2016.

At present, Jackson, who is 42 years old, became a father for the first time last year in April, welcoming a daughter with Jodie Turner-Smith. He has recently graced our screens in Netflix’s “When They See Us” and Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere,” where he co-starred with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington. In the near future, he will lead the cast in “Dr. Death” on Peacock, a series inspired by the same-titled Wondery podcast.

Charlie Conway is doing just fine, people!

In the same year that Thompson first appeared in movies as Russ Tyler (also known for inventing the “knucklepuck” shot) in a sequel, Kenan Thompson’s sketch comedy series All That was launched on Nickelodeon. As one of the show’s standout performers, Thompson and co-star Kel Mitchell went on to star in their own spinoff series, Kenan & Kel, as well as the feature film Good Burger. In 2019, they reunited for a revival of All That on Nickelodeon, taking on roles as executive producers and making appearances on screen.

Three years after “Kenan & Kel” finished airing, Thompson, aged 42, became a member of the cast for “Saturday Night Live” on NBC and has since then held the record as the longest-serving cast member in the show’s history, having appeared in 18 seasons so far. Additionally, he is also juggling roles with his sitcom titled “Kenan” on the same network.

Thompson married model Christina Evangeline in 2011 and the couple have two daughters.

Back in January 2019, Thompson donned his skates for a reunion with several former teammates from the Anaheim Ducks during a game, gliding onto the ice alongside Danny Tamberelli and Vincent LaRusso.

Prior to achieving fame through Fox’s popular drama series “Empire”, Smollett had previously appeared as Terry Hall, one of the Hall siblings, in the original “Mighty Ducks” movie. Although he didn’t reprise his role for subsequent films, Smollett starred in his own ABC sitcom titled “On Our Own” that same year, alongside his siblings Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Jake Smollett, Jazz Smollett, Jocqui Smollett, and Jojo Smollett. This sitcom premiered the year after “D2” was released.

In January 2019, Jussie Smollett, aged 38, got involved in a legal controversy following an incident in Chicago that he described as a hate crime against him. However, a month later, the Chicago Police Department labeled him as a suspect. Later, Smollett pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of disorderly conduct, which were related to the accusation that he had falsely reported the incident to police. He maintains his innocence regarding these allegations.

Initially, criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dismissed in March. However, in February 2020, a new indictment was brought against him, as stated in a press release. This indictment consisted of six counts, alleging that Smollett falsely reported incidents to the Chicago Police Department, claiming to be a victim of a hate crime, despite there being no actual crime committed against him.

As I follow the latest developments, it’s been shared that Jussie Smollett will be stepping away from Empire, with Fox releasing a statement indicating, “Through mutual understanding, we have extended Jussie Smollett’s option for season six. However, at this moment, there are no plans to bring back the character of Jamal to Empire.

Among Bombay’s new team members, Tamberelli was notable due to his background in figure skating. In the series, he portrayed Tommy Duncan, a role initially shared with Jane Plank as Tammy. However, Tamberelli, who featured only in the first film, was exceptionally promising, having previously starred in Nickelodeon’s popular sitcom “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” and later joining the cast of “All That” for seasons 4-6.

Following the conclusion of his time on All That, he returned to New Jersey, resumed education at college, and temporarily stepped away from the entertainment industry. However, his time as a ‘Duck’ left an indelible mark on him; in 2016, Tamberelli shared with Splinter News that “I played hockey for my high school during my freshman year. The Mighty Ducks sparked my interest in and passion for hockey.

In the year 2013, a podcast titled “The Adventures of Danny and Mike” was launched by a 39-year-old individual, in collaboration with his former co-star from “Pete and Pete,” Michael Maronna, who also played his onscreen older brother. Fast forward to 2020, this same person was performing comedy shows alongside Maronna and Lori Beth Denberg, a star from “All That,” under the name “Nostalgia Personified.

In the year 2018, Tamberelli tied the knot with his long-term partner, Katelyn Detweiler. A year later, they were blessed with their son, Alfred Noel.

In the following chapter, Erbe became a mentor and unofficial assistant coach for the Ducks. Over time, she took over from Charlie’s mother as Bombay’s romantic interest. (Apologies to Charlie!)

Following her stint on popular HBO show “Oz”, Erbe, now aged 55, achieved her breakout role as Det. Alex Eames on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” in 2001. She appeared in more than 140 episodes alongside Vincent D’Onofrio until their beloved duo departed the series after the eighth season. However, they both came back for the abbreviated final season in 2011.

More recently, Erbe has appeared as Bill Pullman’s character’s spouse in the popular USA Network show “The Sinner,” and made a guest appearance on an episode of “The Good Fight.

In the trilogy, Connie Moreau, a rare female hockey player among the team, was portrayed by actress Moreau.

Following her graduation with a political science degree from Vassar College in the year 1999, Moreau, aged 43, subsequently gained fame in beloved films such as “Queen of the Damned” and “Wet Hot American Summer”. Notably, she returned to the latter for the Netflix sequel series. Additionally, she made guest appearances on popular shows like “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Lost”, “Mad Men”, “The O.C.”, and “Brothers & Sisters”.

Since I tied the knot with Christopher Redman in 2010, we were blessed with our first bundle of joy in 2015.

Despite our ongoing apprehension about Fulton’s powerful slapshot, it’s true! In the initial movie, Henson’s off-kilter persona turned out to be the team’s covert advantage. Later, Fulton joined the Bash Brothers in the sequel. When asked by TVGuide.com about their current activities, Henson humorously suggested they might be teaching aerobics to elderly ladies in Florida.

Following his roles in three films, Henson, aged 43, later featured in popular ’90s teen movies such as “She’s All That” and “Idle Hands”. He then moved on to star in the “Hunger Games” movie series. In 2015, he played Foggy Nelson in the critically acclaimed Netflix series “Daredevil”, and made appearances in other Marvel TV shows produced by the streaming giant as well.

Initially, Henson felt awkward when he was identified with the “Mighty Ducks” films during his youth, but later, speaking with TV Guide, he acknowledged that the franchise played a significant role in shaping his career: “It’s amusing that I’m still most recognized for The Mighty Ducks. I adore it…I cherish those movies. It feels as though these opportunities occur only once in a lifetime, and to have experienced this as both a child and an adult, I truly feel fortunate.

Fun fact: Did you know Fulton and Guy Germaine are real-life brothers? According to Garette, who has been acting since he can remember, growing up in an acting family, their journey wasn’t competitive but rather encouraging. Since they were of different ages, they never vied for the same roles, making it even more special that they both pursued acting careers.

Apart from featuring in every movie of the “Ducks” series by Henson, the younger Henson sibling was also seen in the film “Casper,” where he played Christina Ricci’s human love interest.

Apart from starring in all movies related to the “Ducks” franchise directed by the Hensons, the younger brother of that duo could also be spotted in the movie “Casper,” where he had a romantic interest in the role portrayed by Christina Ricci.

Ever since bidding farewell to my beloved Ducks, I’ve been on a journey that led me to secure an MFA in Film from the prestigious Columbia University in 2015, continuing to act and keep my passion alive.

Garette married his wife Laurie in 2007 and they welcomed a son in 2014.

Ever since I joined the Disney clan back in 1992 with “Newsies”, I’ve been known as more than just a newbie – I stepped into the shoes of Dean Porter, making me the second Bash Brother in the sequel movies. It feels like magic being part of this legendary saga!

Later on, he played a role in the 2005 movie version of the popular Broadway musical “Rent,” and has also been featured in TV shows like “Law & Order,” “The Mentalist,” “Blue Bloods,” and “White Collar.

44-year-old Aaron Lohr tied the knot with his “Rent” co-star, Idina Menzel, in 2017, and she announced it on Twitter. “I’d like to share some news… I got married to my beloved, Aaron Lohr, this weekend at our home,” she posted. “My father and son escorted me down the aisle. It was enchanting.

Besides portraying the lively goalie Goldberg in “The Mighty Ducks” movies, Weiss also made appearances on ’80s shows such as “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” and “Webster”. In the ’90s, he starred in “Heavyweights” and featured in multiple episodes of both “Freaks and Geeks” and “The King of Queens”. His final onscreen role was in 2008’s “Drillbit Taylor”.

In January 2020, a 40-year-old individual was taken into custody in Northern California, suspected of burglary and being under the influence of meth. This incident marked his second arrest related to drugs; previously, he had been imprisoned for 90 days in 2017 following charges of meth possession. After his most recent arrest, a spokesperson for the actor requested prayers from fans, expressing hope that Shaun can find his way out of this situation.

Following his stint at the rehabilitation center, Weiss marked over 230 days of abstinence by opting for a “sober smile,” undergoing a dental procedure in September 2020 to receive a new set of teeth. He has now achieved a significant accomplishment: completing one year without alcohol.

In all three movies, LaRusso portrayed Adam Banks, who started on the opposing team, the Hawks, but later switched to the Ducks. Interestingly, he assumed this role after the original actor was replaced due to behavior issues; as Jordan Kerner, the producer, explained in an interview with TIME, the first actor was somewhat unkind to other kids.

42-year-old Larry Russo, who primarily stepped away from acting following the third “Ducks” movie, frequently attends conventions and franchise gatherings. Lately, he participated in a 25th anniversary event with the Anaheim Ducks, where he, along with multiple fellow cast members, symbolically dropped a ceremonial puck. Presently, Larry resides in New York City and is involved in the hospitality sector.

In the year 2018, LaRusso decided to legally separate from his spouse, Kathryn Elizabeth Everard, following a marital duration of three years.

Following his role as Jesse Hall, the hard-edged and verbally sparring player for the Ducks in the first two movies (He’s the one you can credit for the memorable “Cake Eater” jibe), Adams chose not to participate in the third and concluding film of the series. Later on, he made appearances on popular shows like Moesha, Boy Meets World, Martin, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Sister, Sister.

At around age 41, this person primarily stepped away from the acting industry to focus on a new path in music, adopting the stage name B. Lee for rap performances in 2009.

In 2014, Adams got together once more with several of his old “Ducks” cast members to mark the movie’s 20th anniversary celebration.

Who wasn’t fond of Julie “The Cat” Gaffney, the gifted goalie who joined the Ducks during their Olympic run in the sequel? After reappearing for the third movie, the then 43-year-old temporarily paused her acting career to study at Sarah Lawrence College. Subsequently, she graduated from the Natural Gourmet School in New York.

In the year 2007, she participated in the popular TV show “The Next Food Network Star” but didn’t emerge as the winner. Regardless, she later established her own food-themed blog named “Colombe du Jour.

She is wedded to Jeffrey Lefleur and has two kids of her own. Additionally, she instructs elementary school pupils on topics such as cooking, nutrition, and gardening in the neighborhood of Harlem.

After a brief comeback to acting in the 2002 film Men in Black II, Jacobsen-Derstine expresses no regrets about chasing her culinary aspirations. She shared with Sports Illustrated that “Acting can sometimes feel like playing the lottery. In cooking, you can invest effort and truly witness the outcomes.

When Schwartz was ten years old, he had already made an appearance in the film “Heavyweights,” sharing the screen with Thompson. However, his role was limited to just the first movie where he played the scrappy team member named Dave Karp.

He mentioned on the podcast, The Man Cave Chronicles, that he believed he wasn’t asked to audition for Karp, instead, he remembered arriving and being asked if he knew how to ice-skate. Although he answered affirmatively, he admitted he had no idea about it at all.

Following a significant hiatus from acting, this 40-year-old actor secured the part of Dorota’s lover, Vanya, on the popular CW show “Gossip Girl”, appearing in fifteen episodes and also featuring in a web series titled “Chasing Dorota”. Additionally, he made guest appearances on shows like “Law & Order” and “Suits”, and even landed a minor role in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”.

It seems that Schwartz and the other young ducks weren’t mature or aged enough for the sequel. The actor explained that they hadn’t aged much, and thus, they still appeared as if they were in fourth grade when it was time to film the second movie, which made it impossible to continue with the role.

In the entire trilogy, Doherty portrayed Averman, a team member of the Ducks who was known for his quick wit and sarcasm (often seen saying “Hey goalie, goalie, goalie!”). During the gap between the first two movies, Doherty appeared in the popular dark comedy “So I Married an Axe Murderer,” sharing the screen with Mike Myers.

Following a brief hiatus from acting to attend college while wearing his jersey in retirement, Doherty, aged 42, subsequently made appearances on shows such as “Felicity,” “ER,” “Boston Public,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “CSI.

On Wednesdays, I participate in an informal hockey league, as stated by Doherty to Kare 11 News back in early 2020. In all likelihood, my membership on the team can be attributed to the fact that I am a Duck.

In the sequel D2, Wong debuted as the character Ken, who was once an Olympic figure skater. He appeared in the third and concluding movie, and then decided to move away from acting and pursue a career as a sound engineer instead.

Wong, 40, now co-owns and operates AudioGator, a Vancover-based audio production company.

In the movie “D3”, Nordling skillfully took over Coach Bombay’s role, portraying the character of Ted Orion – a former NHL star who became a coach. This was necessary because Timothy Estevez was occupied with his project “The War At Home” and couldn’t appear in the film.

Joshua Jackson shared with Us Weekly that Emilio had valid reasons for not returning, given his professional commitments. He acknowledged that it felt strange in some ways, but at the same time, it wasn’t entirely surprising considering Emilio was instrumental in bringing everything together when they were just 13 years old. Looking back now, he’s astounded by Emilio’s patience in dealing with them as a group of unprofessional 15-year-olds.

Following his stint with the Ducks, Nordling, aged 59, subsequently shone on “Once and Again” and made appearances on “Desperate Housewives” as well as numerous other shows. Ultimately, he secured a leading role in HBO’s popular series “Big Little Lies,” portraying the philandering husband of Laura Dern’s character, Gordon Klein (Renata will certainly not be poor, Gordon!).
