It appears that EastEnders is planning a documentary centered on topics related to misogyny, an issue they’re addressing within their current BBC One series.
16-year-old Joel Marshall, portrayed by Max Murray, finds himself at the heart of a narrative revolving around harmful masculinity. He’s involved in incidents such as secretly filming himself having sex with Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) without her consent, assaulting a stranger on a train and recording it for his friend, and distributing explicit material featuring Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) online.
As a devoted follower, I learned that the unfortunate incident keeping Joel from revisiting Australia involved him snapping a picture up a young lady’s skirt. To dodge involving law enforcement, his friend Ross chose to settle matters privately by compensating the girl’s family.
As reported by The Sun, the upcoming documentary is expected to include actors from the soap opera. Executives are optimistic that this documentary could stimulate more in-depth conversations.
We realize that the documentary is still in development and is scheduled to air on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer towards the end of this year, synchronizing with pertinent moments shown on television.

On different occasions, EastEnders has created documentaries inspired by their storylines. Notably, they addressed the matter of knife violence in a unique episode that aired on BBC Three, followed by further coverage, in the year 2018.
In this rendition, the narrative unfolds as a compelling follow-up to Netflix’s praised series, ‘Adolescence’. The story centers around Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old character portrayed by Owen Cooper, who finds himself in legal trouble for allegedly committing a murder at his school.
The limited series delves into the topic of radicalization influenced by online ‘incel’ rhetoric, a subject that resonates with Joel as he becomes entangled in it. The narrative unfolds as viewers witness Joel’s growing infatuation with a male influencer who promulgates harmful ideologies, to which Joel seems to align himself.
