Denshattack bears a striking resemblance and plays similarly to a game lost from the Dreamcast era. This could be considered the highest praise for Spanish studio Undercoders’ recent work, as we still cherish memories of Sega software from the early 2000s, such as Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi.
As a passionate enthusiast, I’d like to share that this isn’t your typical train game, unlike Train Sim World 6 we talked about yesterday. Instead, it bears a striking resemblance to the Sonic the Hedgehog series, particularly during its 3D era. You’ll find yourself racing ahead at blistering speeds, much like our favorite blue mascot!

There seems to be quite a bit happening in this presentation, and we believe it could benefit from some polishing or a smoother learning progression. Essentially, our demonstration covered all the components, and we will now try to summarize them for you.
As a thrill-seeker aboard this speeding train, I’ve learned that the art of drifting is crucial when navigating sharp bends. Timing my brakes just right triggers a meter, and releasing them during the green segment rewards me with a much-needed boost! Neglecting to brake can result in derailment, so it’s important to stay vigilant for any upcoming curves ahead.
In certain areas, you’ll be given the option: should you prefer to move left or right? Moving the control stick accordingly – while ensuring you apply the brakes appropriately – will guide you along your selected direction.
You can maneuver your train to jump with the R2 button, which comes in handy when you want to dodge hazards. However, there may be instances where you need to quickly get back on track, either for speed reasons or to avoid other obstacles. You achieve this by pressing down and holding L2.
In some games, such as Ratchet & Clank, there will be instances where you’ll have to transition between various tracks because of dangers and other obstacles. This is accomplished by jumping into the air and then guiding your character using the analog stick, though we often found it less precise than desired.
After that, there are skateboarding stunts similar to those found in video games like Street Fighter. While in mid-air, these tricks can be executed by mimicking specific gestures. For instance, a quarter-circle motion initiates a kickflip, and a quick up-and-down movement triggers a pop shove-it, giving you an idea of how it works.
Combining everything so rapidly may give the impression of juggling multiple tasks at once, such as clapping and tapping your feet simultaneously. It’s certainly challenging, and despite finding some harmony, we believe that the final unveiling might benefit from a gradual reveal of information due to the immense amount of content that needs to be absorbed.
The game boasts an exceptional flair for style, focusing on a questionable corporation that’s divided Japan. The only link between the diverse cities is the railway system. Anime-style scenes add visual appeal to the action, yet it’s evident that the gameplay will take center stage over the narrative.
Furthermore, it’s perfectly acceptable since this work offers some genuinely thrilling instances, such as when you leap onto a Ferris wheel and experience a brief detachment from the tracks – quite literally.
In our demo, we didn’t encounter it, but the trailer suggests a scene where you fight against a massive Gundam robot, as you dash through a modernized version of Tokyo’s famous downtown areas. The style is simply incredible and promises that the entire game will be tough to overlook.
As a gamer, I’d say the game could benefit from some tweaks for an enhanced experience: tighter, faster controls, a smoother onboarding process, and a user interface that’s easier on the eyes, with clearer indicators when things go awry.
As a gamer, I’ve got to admit there’s some potential in Denshattack, but let me tell you, it shouldn’t feel like mastering a complex train simulator just to get started. It seems the developers have put in a lot of effort, and yet, unfortunately, that’s the vibe I’m getting – a learning curve that’s steeper than a roller coaster!
Am I catching your drift that come spring of 2026, when Denshattack drops, I’ll be hopping off this ride and heading out the door? Are we all buckled up for the thrilling journey to follow? Let’s sound our virtual horns in excitement in the comments below!
