The Fantastic Four is a legendary group, boasting Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing among its ranks. These Marvel Universe characters are adored, powerful, and unstoppable as a team for years. However, being Marvel’s First Family doesn’t automatically make them the best possible combination. Despite the original four members of the Fantastic Four being revered, there are other superheroes that could significantly enhance the team – some of whom have even worked alongside them in the past.
In various situations, whether it’s a short-term replacement for the Fantastic Four, stepping in when one of the primary heroes was unavailable, or demonstrating exceptional abilities in different areas of the Marvel Universe, these seven characters have proven they could be excellent additions to, and possibly even surpass, the original members of the Fantastic Four that fans are familiar with.
7) Doctor Doom
As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I firmly believe that when it comes to the Fantastic Four, the notion of Doctor Doom being the genius they need may initially strike some as sacrilegious. Yet, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that Victor Von Doom could excel in this role and potentially surpass Reed Richards. While Reed is revered for his intellect, Doom matches him wit for wit, and even though he’s not renowned for selflessness, he can be galvanized for the greater good. Moreover, with Latveria at his fingertips, Doom possesses the resources to back up his genius.
What truly sets Doom apart as a compelling member of the Fantastic Four, however, is his complex interpersonal relationships within the team, and it would be captivating to witness him engaging more with Valeria. Such interactions could breathe new life into this iconic group.
6) Sunspot
If the Fantastic Four ever needed a replacement for the Human Torch, Sunspot would be an excellent candidate. Despite being underestimated, Roberto DaCosta is one of Marvel’s most underrated mutants and is beloved by many fans. His diverse powers make him more than just a heat-based character – he can also fly, manipulate light, and use powerful blasts. In fact, Sunspot’s abilities are so impressive that he could potentially replace not only the Human Torch but also The Thing, making him a truly formidable member of the team.
5) Venom
It’d be quite entertaining to imagine the Venom Symbiote, particularly if it belonged to Mary Jane, joining the Fantastic Four. While Eddie or Flash could also host the symbiote, the idea of introducing this character dynamic to the team is intriguing. The opportunity to explore Mary Jane beyond her ties with Peter Parker would certainly offer a fresh take on her character.
The concept of Venom joining a team isn’t innovative; he has been part of several teams before, often portrayed as Eddie or Flash. It seems natural for Mary Jane, who might join the Fantastic Four next, to follow in this unlikely Venom transformation. This would not only make sense but also signify that both Mary Jane and Peter Parker have collaborated with the team – which is simply fantastic!
4) Deadpool
Among the potential newcomers to the First Family, I can’t help but envision Deadpool as the wildcard. Picture him serving as a test subject for our team’s groundbreaking research, all while keeping spirits high with his witty banter. Moreover, his camaraderie with Johnny could make sparks fly, potentially adding more excitement to an already dynamic group.
While he might drive everyone else a tad crazy, I can assure you that his humor would be the most entertaining addition to our family. Not to mention, in the heat of battle, his indestructible nature would prove invaluable as an asset.
3) Wolverine (Laura Kinney)
In recent times, Laura Kinney has stepped into the role of Wolverine, previously held by numerous superheroes within the Marvel universe. Given her impressive performance and growth as Wolverine over the years, she would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the Fantastic Four. Her potential incorporation could serve as a replacement for either Johnny Storm or The Thing, providing strength while maintaining her unique traits. From a character standpoint, Laura’s inclusion in the team would introduce a more nuanced dynamic and offer intriguing story opportunities. We wholeheartedly endorse this idea.
2) She-Hulk
I took over from The Thing on the Fantastic Four after the first Secret Wars, and I’ve been a steady member of the team for quite some time. While The Thing is undeniably iconic, there’s something about She-Hulk that really clicked with the group. In fact, I became their muscle, and it led to a great deal of success not only for the team but also for my own solo adventures.
During a time when Sue Storm significantly strengthened the team’s prowess, it was truly inspiring to witness two women as part of the team, often referred to as the First Family. The She-Hulk’s presence brought a much-needed equilibrium to the group dynamics. Her tenure was particularly successful and it seemed fitting that she could have continued as a permanent member of the team.
1) Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
One way to rephrase this in natural, easy-to-read language could be:
Joining the Fantastic Four might best be suited for their renowned substitutes, particularly Spider-Man. Filling in for Johnny during his “death”, Peter proved an excellent fit when the team needed a quick-witted member. In tribute to Johnny’s last request, he embraced this role and made it his own. Although Johnny later reappeared, keeping Peter as a permanent member would have been highly anticipated by fans. He was a fantastic addition to the team, and honestly, having him back with the First Family would be something truly exciting.
