The horror action game from Eidos that heavily featured Full Motion Videos (FMV), known as Fear Effect, has unexpectedly popped up in the PlayStation Store, now available for download on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
This was first spotted by Gematsu, also noting that the game has yet to be seen on Switch or Steam:
The port is from Limited Run Games, and was announced back in June of last year.
Because the upcoming release seems to follow a pattern similar to Shadow Drops (where games are released unfinished), and since previous versions didn’t adopt this approach, there are rumors suggesting that the launch of both the PS5 and PS4 may have been premature.
Either way, the game is available for digital purchase right now on PS Store for $9.99/£8.99.
If the game was initially released on PlayStation, there’s a chance it may be taken down temporarily and then re-released when it’s ready. It’s also possible that the delay in launching on Nintendo Switch and Steam is due to unforeseen circumstances.
We’ll keep this story updated if and when new details emerge.
Would you be keen on playing Fear Effect again, this time on PS5 or PS4? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section!
