Filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and actress Emma Stone have built a successful cinematic alliance, resulting in multiple films. This partnership culminated in Stone receiving her second Oscar for Lanthimos’ 2024 film, ‘Poor Things’. The latest fruit of their collaboration, ‘Bugonia‘, is now being showcased through the release of its trailer.
In this movie, we find two individuals consumed by conspiracies abducting a prominent business executive, believing her to be an extraterrestrial planning to annihilate our planet.
The movie is a remake, influenced by the 2003 South Korean film ‘Save the Green Planet’, and at first, its original director, Jang Joon-Hwan, was supposed to direct it along with American screenwriter Will Tracy on the script. However, due to delays caused by Jang’s health issues that hindered his participation, CJ Entertainment decided to choose Yorgos Lanthimos for the job because of his unique directorial style.
In addition to Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone are also starring in this film, which is set to hit theaters in October 2025 during the probable award nomination period.
