Why Teyana Taylor Doesn’t Regret $70K Divorce Payment to Iman Shumpert

When it comes to her divorce, Teyana Taylor isn’t looking back.

In simpler words: A Thousand and One (a person) was recently found guilty in court for breaking the rules of her divorce settlement with Iman Shumpert. She was ordered to pay him $70,000 due to public statements she made. However, she views this payment as the end of a difficult period in her life.

Speaking on The Breakfast Club on August 27th, I hastily transferred the funds as soon as I knew it would bring me closure and put this matter to rest permanently. I acted swiftly in making that transfer, indeed.

She called the amount ‘the best small investment I’ve ever made in my life,’ and stated that she wouldn’t need to face this issue anymore.

2023 marked the end of my seven-year marital journey with Teyana and Iman, parents to our beautiful daughters, Junie (9) and Rue Rose (4). Although we officially parted ways in July 2024, the limelight surrounding our divorce persisted, making it challenging for us both, even long after the legal separation.

Whenever something extraordinary occurs in my life, it seems to be connected to the divorce,” she explained further. “There’s nothing else dominating my life like this. I’m rarely involved in anything else.

In March, it was reported by TopMob News that Teyana Taylor claimed the NBA player had disclosed terms of an alleged divorce agreement following its appearance online, as stated in court documents at the time.

However, according to the documents filed, Teyana claimed that they, as ex-partners, had not mutually agreed on a settlement independently.

According to the petition, no agreement or settlement was ever reached between the parties. Instead, anything each party received during the divorce (which concluded on July 1, 2024) was decided by the court.

In another part of the document, Teyana claimed that she instructed her lawyer to request her former partner to limit or halt the sharing of personal information with the public.

However, as stated by the actress, Iman would feign ignorance about the origin of the leaks regarding the divorce case.

In connection to our divorce settlement, I asserted that Teyana breached our agreement by publicly discussing the matter in a video posted on Instagram in March. The judge concurred with my viewpoint, stating, as documented by Us Weekly, “I find [Taylor] in violation of the Final Judgment and Decree of Divorce and is in willful contempt.

She was ordered to pay $70,000 for his legal fees.
