Richard Osman books: The Thursday Murder Club books in order

The Thursday Murder Club

Gather around Joyce, Elizabeth, Ibrahim, and Ron – an energetic quartet of seniors residing in the upscale Cooper’s Chase retirement community. Each Thursday, they gather for an intriguing hobby: investigating cold cases, but when a grisly homicide occurs just outside their homes, this determined group chooses to focus their pursuit on a crime much closer to home.

The Man Who Died Twice

On the subsequent Thursday, the extraordinary quartet prepares for another thrilling escapade. An ex-coworker of Elizabeth’s reappears in a dire predicament, entangled with a horde of diamonds and a menacing gangster. Can this group manage to assist while successfully avoiding any danger?

The Bullet That Missed

On another Thursday, Joyce, Elizabeth, Ron, and Ibrahim find themselves delving into an old, seemingly resurgent case. A case dating back a decade hints at a prominent local news figure and a murder without a body, with Elizabeth receiving an unexpected new adversary. This is merely the start of things; Elizabeth will have to grapple with moral dilemmas as she faces the choice between self-preservation and taking action.

The Last Devil To Die

Unfortunately, The Thursday Murder Club received some unfortunate news. An acquaintance from their antiques circle has met with a tragic end, and a valuable parcel that this individual had been safeguarding seems to have vanished without a trace.

This story unfolds around artists who counterfeit masterpieces, internet swindlers, and drug traffickers. Which one of them will meet their end last?

The narrative commences with a cast of forgers producing fake artworks, con artists operating online scams, and narcotics dealers. Who among them will be the final wrongdoer to perish?

Will there be a Thursday Murder Club movie?

As a cinephile reveling in the latest scoops, I’m thrilled to confirm – and yes, it seems the grapevine was abuzz with accuracy this time – that the mastermind behind The Thursday Murder Club, none other than Richard Osman, has officially green-lit a film adaptation! This tantalizing prospect of a big-screen rendition of our beloved book club’s murderous escapades has me all aflutter, and I can hardly contain my excitement as we await more details on this highly anticipated cinematic endeavor.

2020 saw Osman reveal that Amblin Entertainment, a motion picture studio created by legendary director Steven Spielberg himself, had been established. However, in 2023, production was halted due to industry-wide strikes; yet, it is anticipated that filming will commence in the year 2024.

As of yet, there’s no further information on cast confirmations or release dates.

Is there a new Richard Osman book?

As a dedicated cinephile, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard the fantastic news about our beloved quartet of crime-busting pensioners! The latest instalment might have been titled “The Last Devil to Die,” but rest assured, it won’t be the final chapter in this captivating series. Richard Osman himself has confirmed that there will indeed be more books to come, and I for one can hardly wait!

During an interview on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Osman mentioned that he would be stepping back from Joyce, Elizabeth, Ron, and Ibrahim for a while (considering they’ve had quite a bit going on), but rest assured, we haven’t seen the end of their story.

Instead of taking a break after leaving Pointless, Osman has been actively working on his next book, which is another crime-adventure series. In this story, he introduces a detective duo consisting of a father and daughter-in-law with contrasting lifestyles who are compelled to collaborate when trouble occurs.

As I’m typing this, the book remains unnamed and is scheduled for release on September 17, 2024. You can place your pre-order for it right away!
