The Glastonbury Festival this year is dominating the BBC airwaves, as they anticipate extensive broadcasting of this globally acclaimed event.
On Saturday evening, some avid spectators were left enraged when the BBC’s live transmission of the renowned festival suddenly halted during broadcast, replacing their favorite performances with an empty screen instead.
During the second evening at Worthy Farm, those eager to enjoy sets by Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX from home found disappointment as both BBC television broadcast and iPlayer experienced a significant technical breakdown, preventing viewing.
During the eagerly awaited performance at The Other Stage, those watching through BBC encountered an empty screen instead.
People attempting to view live Glastonbury performances on iPlayer’s primary stream encountered an error message saying: “Apologies for the disruption; we are currently addressing the issue.
Many took to social media to vent their frustration online, demanding answers and better coverage.

The BBC’s broadcast of the Scissor Sisters performance was disappointing, as it went off air and there were few live streams available. Additionally, the iPlayer Glastonbury Channel on Apple TV is not working properly, making it a disorganized situation.
‘bbc iplayer crashing as soon as scissor sisters are meant to be on stage is abysmal work’
I’ve been waiting all day for the Scissor Sisters performance, but now iPlayer is displaying a black screen. Oh my goodness! #Glastonbury2025
Initially, we couldn’t catch the Kaiser Chiefs performance, and now it seems like BBC iPlayer fails during the scheduled broadcast of Scissor Sisters, which is quite frustrating. #BBC #Glastonbury2025
We missed out on watching the Kaiser Chiefs initially, and now it looks like the iPlayer malfunctions whenever Scissor Sisters are supposed to perform, that’s really annoying. #BBC #Glastonbury2025
‘bbc @iplayer no scissor sisters, 35 mins in still getting this.. very disappointing.’
‘C’mon iPlayer, f*****g sort yourself out. Waiting for Scissor Sisters here.’
#Glastonbury2025 #TheScissorSisters, what an irony! I’ve been eagerly anticipating watching the one band truly worth seeing today, yet I’m stuck with this less-than-impressive performance instead.
‘Cmon BBC Iplayer…where’s Charli xcx? #Glastonbury’

I’d like to reiterate, I only wish to stream the Charli XCX performance at Glastonbury from BBC iPlayer once more. It’s even more appealing now that our screen is completely blank. Instead, I could be using my £174.50 annual TV license for 581 Freddos.
‘IPLAYER HURRY AND FIX THIS I WANNA SEE CHARLI’
The BBC iPlayer failed to do its basic task of providing a smooth streaming experience during the main event, which is beyond frustrating. Honestly, it’s just laughable.”
This version maintains the original sentiment while using more polite language and avoiding slang for a wider audience.
‘the live coverage has been awful’
Desperate viewers had to quickly switch to the exclusive feed for The Other Stage as they scrambled to watch any leftover performances, luckily this feed managed to avoid the glitch.
On Saturday night, Charli XCX made quite an explicit performance when she took center stage at The Other stage, serving as the main act.
The 32-year-old vocalist flaunted her fit physique in skintight black leather mini shorts and a lacy skull-themed cropped top.
Charli adorned herself with a lightweight Alexander McQueen scarf, while she concealed her eyes beneath large, dark shades.
The audience erupted with excitement as she played fan favorites such as “Party 4 U,” “Speed Drive,” “Sympathy Is a Knife,” and “360.
Later on, she sang her tune titled Apple, and it was none other than Gracie Abrams, who’s known for a popular viral dance, who was performing. Gracie Abrams happens to be the daughter of renowned Star Wars director, JJ Abrams.

Earlier in the day, Pulp had thrown shade at Charli during their surprise performance.
Legendary Britpop figures hid under the alias Patchwork, unveiling their identities on the renowned Pyramid Stage after a span of three decades.
Instead of directly taking a jab, the band playfully proclaimed 2025 as “A Pulp-centric Summer,” referencing Charli XCX’s performance at the Other Stage on Saturday night.
Before their performance, a screen flashed with ‘Are you ready for…. Pulp Summer.’
It appears that the band conveyed a clear message intended for Charli’s fan group, who dubbed it “Brat Summer” in the previous year following the success of her hit album.
Following the appearance of the words, the bandleader humorously commented, “We’re Pulp, my apologies to those who anticipated Patchwork.

He added: ‘Did you know we were going to play? How? Psychic? Good.’
During their performance, Pulp playfully pointed out that it had been thirty years and four days since they made their debut at Glastonbury in 1995.
In 2002, the group initially disbanded, with Jarvis commenting soon afterward that there seemed to be little interest or enthusiasm left for their music.
They split again in 2013, before reforming in 2022.
