It has been more than a decade since Kiefer Sutherland played the famous Jack Bauer in the series 24; he last reprised this role in the spin-off mini-series Live Another Day.
Following that point, numerous whispers and documents hinted at a potential comeback, and now it appears something tangible might be in development.
In a recent conversation with Aaron Rand from Montreal Now, Sutherland mentioned that Howard Gordon, the 24’s executive producer and showrunner, has conceived an idea that he finds appealing.
Previously, there were no existing writings for me to point out my non-involvement. Now, however, some writing has emerged, and I must say that it is excellent and robust, according to Sutherland.
While I’m certainly eager and hopeful, it’s important to note that the details aren’t finalized yet. Sutherland himself clarified that no definite plans have been set, although he does express optimism with his fingers crossed.
He mentioned that initially, “24” was under Fox’s ownership. However, due to assets being sold off by Fox, it now belongs to Disney. This means the show has to pass through various channels for approval or rejection. Like many others, he expressed interest in working on it again as a way to tie up loose ends, since the storyline was left unfinished. Crossing his fingers, he added that significant progress has already been made.
From 2001 to 2010, I had the privilege of following an exhilarating TV series that unfolded in real-time, with each season covering a 24-hour span. The original run included a movie special in 2008, and then came “Live Another Day” in 2014. However, a brief spin-off without Jack Bauer, titled “24: Legacy,” graced our screens in 2017.
After that, Sutherland has continued his career by appearing in movies like They Cloned Tyrone and Juror #2, along with television shows such as Designated Survivor and Rabbit Hole.
