Grayson Chrisley is soaking up every moment with his parents.

Following the release of Todd and Julie Chrisley from prison after receiving pardons for their 2022 tax fraud and evasion convictions by President Donald Trump, their 19-year-old son felt an unbreakable bond with his parents and didn’t want to be separated from them for even a moment.

In the context of our conversation, let me share my account of an incident with Grayson that was discussed on “My View with Lara Trump” on June 28. I remember him entering and asking, “May I sleep here tonight?” To which I responded positively, saying, “Yes, you are welcome.

Moreover, Grayson found himself expressing delight over the wonderful feeling of being reunited with their family once more.

He put it simply: ‘The most enjoyable aspect is simply being in each other’s company.’ When you have those moments at home, they seem ordinary, but when you suddenly realize that one day they might not exist anymore and the next day they’re gone, well, it carries a little extra significance.

However, during Todd’s 12-year incarceration in Florida and Julie’s seven-year sentence in Kentucky, Grayson wasn’t by himself. In fact, he had his sister Savannah Chrisley, who played a significant part in their parents’ release campaign, standing by him all the time.

Savannah, aged 27, revealed that Grayson often says, “I have two moms,” as they have an age gap of nine years. This has resulted in us being practically inseparable since then. Over the last two and a half years, he’s imparted more knowledge to me than anyone else on Earth possibly could.

She went on to say, ‘It turns out that he was the one who rescued me, not the other way around.’ This experience we’ve shared has been nothing short of a wild ride.

As for Chloe Chrisley, Todd and Julie’s youngest daughter who is biologically Kyle Chrisley’s child (shared by Todd with ex Teresa Terry), she mirrored the same enthusiasm upon seeing her parents’ much-anticipated comeback.

Savannah shared with Leland Vittert on the May 28 episode of On Balance that Chloe seems to still be in a state of shock. She’s hesitant to allow herself to feel too hopeful because she fears something bad might happen, but they are eager to reunite with her father and bring him home. They are filled with anticipation.

Additionally, at that moment, Kyle, aged 33, not only showed his enthusiasm about having his parents return home, but also acknowledged Savannah’s diligence with gratitude for her efforts.

In August 2019, a federal grand jury in Atlanta indicted Todd Chrisley and his wife Julie on 12 charges. These charges included wire fraud, conspiring to commit bank fraud, and conspiring to defraud the United States. According to NBC News, these allegations were based on documents they obtained. The prosecutors claimed that the fraud began in the mid-2000s and involved several activities such as evading approximately $2 million in state taxes between 2008 and 2016 and concealing over $1 million from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

A day prior to the issuance of the indictment, Todd asserted that he and his spouse were not guilty, and instead, pointed the finger at a loyal employee who was accused of embezzling from and extorting the couple.

In his Instagram post, he declared, “We’ve got no secrets and have acted honorably in all our actions,” adding, “We not only believe we’re innocent, but we’ve got stacks of solid proof and numerous supporting witnesses to back us up.

Three years after the fact, it wasn’t until then that the stars of “Chrisley Knows Best” stood trial. Over a span of three weeks, various testimonies were presented. Initially claiming innocence, they were found guilty on all charges related to tax evasion and bank fraud on June 7, 2022.

The U.S. attorney’s office claimed that the pair, along with their accountant Peter Tarantino (who was also on trial), were involved in a plot to deceive banks out of over $30 million over the span of ten years.

In Keri Farley’s June 2022 statement as Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, she emphasized that regardless of one’s status or wealth, dishonest actions like lying, deceiving, and stealing will not evade justice. She pointed out that the conviction of all three defendants on all charges serves as a reminder that unethical financial dealings do not lead to success in the end.

Five months down the line, the Northern District of Georgia handed down a sentence for Todd: 12 years in prison, while Julie received a sentence of seven years. In the same court, Peter was given a sentence of three years in prison.

For more than ten years, the accused individuals swindled banks out of vast amounts of money – totalling tens of millions – while neglecting their federal income tax obligations. As stated by U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan in November 2022, these severe sentences highlight the enormity of their criminal activity and should act as a deterrent for anyone considering abusing our nation’s banking system to illegally enrich themselves.

In September 2023, the sentences of Julie and Todd were shortened. Julie is now expected to be freed a year and three months ahead of schedule, in August 2024. On the other hand, Todd’s release date was moved forward by two years, meaning he will leave prison in 2033 instead of his original 2035 release date.

Jay Surgent, the attorneys for Todd and Julie, stated in September 2023 that Insider had been informed, “Beyond any doubt, Todd and Julie are exemplary individuals serving extended prison terms. Presently, Todd has reduced his sentence to a decade, while Julie’s term is currently five years.

In January 2023, the duo began serving their individual prison terms: Todd was incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Pensacola, Florida, while Julie was assigned to a separate federal penitentiary in Lexington, Kentucky.

Six months following the incarceration of Julie and Todd in separate prisons, Savannah Chrisley offered a glimpse into their current state, disclosing that they had no communication with each other while serving their sentences.

195 days passed with no communication between us, she expressed on her August 2023 Instagram post. My heart aches… I implore for fairness and justice!

She also pushed back at rumors about their time in prison.

She found it amusing when one commented, “He’s let himself go,” she mentioned on her Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast. Interestingly, you should know that hair dye isn’t available in the commissary, so naturally, his hair is gray. If I were to speak to him now, I’d say, “Keep it up!” His new look suits him well; he has a fantastic prison barber.

Nevertheless, Todd expressed his concerns regarding the treatment he received at the federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, while confined.

He stated during a call interview on the December 2023 episode of Cuomo, “The food is no longer good, it has exceeded its expiry date by a year.

He went on to say, “There are rats and squirrels infesting the storage area where the food is kept. They concealed it with plastic sheets, but then they destroyed the ceiling due to mold growth. The destruction led to the discovery of a deceased cat up in the ceiling, which unfortunately fell onto the food.

Apart from the atrocities inside the cafeteria, he claimed someone additionally tried to blackmail his relatives.

He mentioned that someone had taken a picture of him as he slept and shared it with his daughter. He then requested $2,600 per month for his safety or protection.

In the absence of their parents, it’s Savannah who is responsible for caring for her younger siblings Grayson and Chloe. She has shared that the consequences of their legal issues and their distance from each other have been a heavy burden for her to bear.

In a conversation with TopMob News in March 2024, she disclosed that their last conversation took place the day they both entered federal prison. She further expressed her concern about potential retribution towards her father due to our vocal criticism of the prison conditions.

Indeed, she claimed that the prison authorities were preventing a significant amount of his email exchanges with her mother.

Instead of focusing on herself, she acknowledged that the situation could sometimes be overpowering for her.

Savannah shared during her podcast “Unlocked” in April 2024, “What’s challenging for me is this sense Mom and Dad have that the world keeps moving forward without them. I experience something similar with people in my own life; it feels like they just carry on living their lives as usual.

She went on saying, “I’m finding it hard to breathe here, caught up in various aspects of life. It could be the financial pressures of raising children, or the challenge of being a parent, or even managing my relationships.

2024 was a life-changing year for me as an ardent fan of Julie – the day I had been eagerly anticipating finally arrived when her seven-year prison sentence was overturned by a three-judge panel at the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals! Although it upheld her convictions, the court graciously acknowledged that the judge in her 2022 trial had erred in calculating Julie’s sentence, which was a relief to hear. It feels like justice has been served, and I can hardly wait to see what the future holds for my beloved role model!

In their decision, the judges explained that the district court failed to specify the evidence used to convict Julie for losses prior to 2007. As we cannot locate this evidence in the court records ourselves, they have decided to overturn Julie’s sentence and send it back to the district court. The district court is now required to make the necessary factual findings and calculations related to loss, restitution, and forfeiture for Julie, and then resendence her accordingly.

In the lower court, it was left to decide on any adjustments to her sentence, whereas Todd’s sentence stayed unchanged.

After having her prison sentence overturned three months ago, an Atlanta court eventually confirmed Julie’s initial seven-year prison term. In a heartfelt show of remorse, she apologized, not only to the court but also to her children.

In her court appearance on September 25th, as reported by People, Julie expressed, “I’ve had ample time to reflect on what I wanted to convey, and I want to express my regret for the actions and circumstances that have brought us to this point.” She added, “Although I’ve spent 20 months in prison, my regret goes back much further, and I apologize for the actions that led to our current situation.

She’s made every effort possible to reconnect with her family. She’s even gone as far as learning new skills like operating a forklift and serving food properly. This phase of her life has been incredibly challenging. She can never fully repay her children for their hardships, and for that, she deeply regrets.

The Chrisleys are returning home, as they were granted a presidential pardon by Donald Trump on May 27, 2025, during their conversation over the phone with Savannah.

Over the past two years and six months, Savannah has tirelessly worked towards securing the release of her parents, expressing this in a statement to TopMob News. This recent development is the answer to many prayers, and she is deeply thankful to President Trump for recognizing the truth and reuniting her family.
