Rod Stewart’s Epic Glastonbury Surprise Guests

On Sunday, June 29th, 2025, Sir Rod Stewart graced Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage as part of the Legends slot, and he didn’t disappoint by inviting some esteemed companions onto the stage with him.

The seasoned 80-year-old musician assured the audience prior to his performance that it would be an unforgettable show, going so far as to personally invest more than £100,000 to ensure he had all the necessary resources for a flawless presentation.

As he stepped onto the stage, Sir Rod was accompanied by a full band of twelve members, among whom were several backup vocalists, all women, who would take over during times when Sir Rod changed costumes.

Initially clad in a sleek black-and-gold attire complemented by a crisp white ruffle shirt, Sir Rod made a change later on, donning a vibrant hot pink suit. This transformation paved the way for his first special guest, the renowned member of Simply Red, Mick Hucknall.

In a duet with Sir Rod, who affectionately referred to him as “Mickey Boy,” the singer performed the song “If You Don’t Know Me By Now.” At one instance during the performance, the audience sang in response so powerfully that it left Sir Rod speechless.

In this segment, Sir Rod took a moment to honor Sir Michael Eavis, the founder of Glastonbury, who was celebrating his 90th birthday prematurely by four months. He expressed gratitude for Mr. Eavis’s part in establishing the renowned festival.

On stage, as Michael was wheeled out, Rod swiftly approached for an embrace, then dedicated the popular tune “I Don’t Wanna Talk About It” in his honor.

True to his word, legendary Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood, a past bandmate of Rod’s in Faces, eventually took the stage with him. They performed the band’s song “Stay With Me,” exchanging playful expressions throughout their performance.

The singer, famous for his distinctive gravelly tone, unintentionally spoiled Lulu’s surprise by announcing her simultaneously with Ronnie, only afterward realizing his blunder.

As a film enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement! Just moments away, the radiant Lulu will grace our stage. My heart pounds in anticipation as I eagerly wait for her arrival. Can’t you feel it? The electric energy in the air is palpable. And when I say, “Oh yeah, Lulu’s coming on after this!” you’ll know that the best is yet to come!

After Stay With Me, Rod exclaimed: “Indeed, here comes Lulu! Hurry up, Lulu, darling. Where’s that sparkly part of you, Lulu?

Lulu burst onto the stage, dressed in a vibrant white ensemble featuring fringed pants. She playfully looped an arm around him and exclaimed enthusiastically, “You’re absolutely nailing it!

Later on, I playfully quipped, “We’re quite the pair… My apologies, Penny!” referring to my beloved wife of 18 years, the renowned Penny Lancaster, who graced the event with her presence.

At the conclusion, everyone in his band and entourage gathered for a heartfelt performance of “We Are Sailing.” As the finale, Sir Rod put on a captain’s hat before taking his leave from the festival.

As Glastonbury Festival concludes following three days filled with music, his impressive performance on the Pyramid Stage stands out as a fitting finale.

In the weeks leading up to his performance, fans expressed concern that Sir Rod might not be well enough to take the stage due to illness forcing him into a period of vocal rest and even causing him to cancel several concerts in the United States during June.

In 2025, he’s undertaking a worldwide tour titled “One Last Time,” with 40 scheduled dates. However, at the start of the year, he fell ill simultaneously with COVID-19 and strep throat.

It’s thought that this might be one of his major tours towards the end of his career, but he has dismissed speculation about him retiring.

He declared in a statement about his upcoming tour that this marks the conclusion of my extensive global travels, however, I am not considering retirement.

“My passion lies in my work, as it’s also something I enjoy immensely. I’m in great shape, boast a healthy mane of hair, and can dash 100 meters in just 18 seconds.
