Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sequel Could Get an Anime of Its Own (And Here Is Why)

For approximately a year now, fans of the manga “Jujutsu Kaisen” have been eagerly waiting for Season 3, but alas, it’s not here yet. However, the creator of “Jujutsu Kaisen”, Gege Akutami, recently announced a sequel titled “Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo”. Exciting news! It appears that Shueisha has high expectations for this new series and might even produce an anime adaptation down the line.

According to Chizai Watch, Shueisha filed a trademark for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo on September 1st, 2025, and it was approved on the 9th. This trademark falls under classes 9, 16, 25, 28, and 41, encompassing various merchandise as well as animation cels, graphic reproductions, CDs, DVDs, recorded media, and video files containing animation content. Although nothing is confirmed yet, the filing suggests that Shueisha may plan to further develop Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo if it continues to achieve success in its debut.

Shueisha May Have Plans to Animate Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

Given the widespread popularity and success of the series “Jujutsu Kaisen,” it’s no surprise that Shueisha, the publisher for Shonen Jump, might envision the upcoming sequel manga expanding into a multimedia empire too. In fact, even with only one chapter, the new series “Modulo” is currently the most sought-after on Manga Plus, garnering over 430 thousand views.

Despite the fact that these trademarks might not seem like substantial evidence, they’re actually quite promising hints, given that numerous other series have followed a similar pattern in the past. To clarify, Shueisha registered identical trademarks for both “Kagurabachi” and “Kill Blue,” and although there was a delay, it has now been confirmed that both of these series will indeed be adapted into anime. Specifically, CygamesPictures is believed to be working on “Kagurabachi,” while “Kill Blue” officially announced its upcoming anime release in 2026, as recently as last week.

Given all that’s been discussed, it’s clear that Modulo won’t be announcing an anime anytime soon. The sequel of the series needs to publish additional chapters first, and MAPPA still needs to complete adapting Jujutsu Kaisen themselves. Since Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen finished airing about two years ago and Season 3 is scheduled for Winter 2026, it might take anywhere from five to six years for MAPPA to completely adapt the series, assuming the story can be concluded within four seasons. On a positive note, by that time, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo may have already concluded its run, thus becoming suitable for an anime adaptation.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is available to read on Manga Plus and Viz Media.
