Excited fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming Harry Potter TV series, but here’s some fantastic news about another JK Rowling book adaptation: Audible is releasing complete-cast audiobook versions of her novels!
Last month, a significant lineup of principal actors for the audio versions was unveiled. Among them are Cush Jumbo, Hugh Laurie, Matthew Macfadyen, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Gomez, Mark Addy, Alex Hassell, and Daniel Mays, all taking on crucial parts.
As a cinephile eagerly awaiting the upcoming release, I’m thrilled to announce that the ensemble is expanding even further! Some big names have officially signed on, and it seems like the star-studded roster just got even shinier.
Amongst those who have been cast are Keira Knightley, who will play Dolores Umbridge, while Game of Thrones legends Kit Harington and Iwan Rheon will both be playing Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers, with Harington playing Gilderoy Lockhart and Rheon taking on the role of Remus Lupin.

As I delve into the magical world of Harry Potter yet again, I’m thrilled to report some exciting newcomers gracing our screens. For instance, Ruth Wilson steps into the enchanting role of Bellatrix Lestrange, a character whose dark charm is hard to resist. Simon Pegg brings his unique humor to Arthur Weasley, adding a touch of lightness to the otherwise tense atmosphere.
James McAvoy takes on the intense and vigilant Mad-Eye Moody, a character that demands both skill and intensity, which I’m certain he delivers. Furthermore, Gemma Whelan lends her talents to Professor Sprout, making her love for magical botany come alive in a way that captivates the audience. And let’s not forget Matt Berry as Sir Cadogan, his regal presence adding an air of sophistication and humor to the iconic Hogwarts tower.

Additionally, a One-Day reunion is planned, featuring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall, who portray Nymphadora Tonks and Bill Weasley from the popular Netflix series.
In response to the announcement, McAvoy expressed his tremendous excitement about portraying the complex character Mad-Eye Moody in these captivating audio editions produced by Pottermore and Audible. He noted that Moody is a multifaceted individual, regularly transitioning from battle-toughened intensity to insightful moments of wisdom. Emulating his commanding presence was an enjoyable challenge for McAvoy.

Simultaneously, Woodall noted, “It’s incredibly unique to contribute to the realization of Bill Weasley’s escapades by lending my voice. This allows us to present this enchanting universe anew for audiobook listeners.
With a star-studded lineup and an enveloping auditory environment created by Pottermore and Audible, listeners all over the globe will find themselves magically immersed in these beloved tales.
Previously decided, Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be portrayed by a different group of actors for the initial three books compared to the final four. The actress playing Hermione in the first three books, Arabella Stanton, has also been chosen to play Hermione in HBO’s fresh adaptation of the Harry Potter series on TV.
Starting from November 4th, 2025, we’ll be releasing the first audio drama adaptation – “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. After that, you can expect a new release every month. The final part of our series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, will be available on May 12th, 2026.
In certain circles, JK Rowling, known for writing Harry Potter, has received criticism over her opinions concerning transgender rights. In the year 2020, she shared a detailed statement outlining her views on debates surrounding sex and gender – this essay drew criticism and opposition from LGBTQ+ organizations such as Stonewall.
Rowling has also shared her views on social media, including in a 2024 post on X (formerly Twitter), in which she insisted that “there are no trans kids” and opposed the idea that a child can be “born in the wrong body”.
In May of 2025, J.K. Rowling established the JK Rowling Women’s Fund, a resource aimed at providing financial assistance for legal action related to preserving women’s rights as defined by their biological sex.
As a devoted fan, I’m sharing an update about the Harry Potter cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, among others, have voiced their personal standpoints distancing themselves from J.K. Rowling’s views, instead expressing support for the transgender community. On the other hand, actors like Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, and Jim Broadbent have come to Rowling’s defense amidst the criticism she has faced.
