Robert Kirkman has a busy schedule after the immense success of “The Walking Dead” as a comic book under Image and as a live-action TV show on AMC. Instead of resting on his undead laurels, Kirkman ventured into the realm of animation, producing three seasons of “Invincible” for Amazon Prime Video. With season 4 coming up, we had an exclusive interview with Kirkman where he discussed updates on the fourth season and significant details about one of the series’ side characters, Battle Beast.
Initially, Robert Kirkman didn’t disclose much fresh details regarding Invincible season 4, but hinted that substantial updates will be shared at this year’s New York Comic Con: “I suggest keeping an eye on this year’s New York Comic Con as there will be plenty discussed about Invincible’s fourth season.” The anticipated panel is set for Friday, October 10th at 5:30 PM Eastern time. This event promises to gather stars Steven Yeun and Gillian Jacobs together with Kirkman to discuss the forthcoming season. In their own words, New York Comic Con describes the upcoming panel as follows:
Experience an exclusive chat with Emmy-winning star Steven Yeun, Gillian Jacobs, co-creator/co-showrunner Robert Kirkman, and other talented voice actors. Expect Season Four spoilers, behind-the-scenes secrets, and unexpected surprises that every Invincible fan will be eager to discover. Will Mark recover from his battle with Conquest? How will things between Eve change? Can we anticipate more Omni-Man in Season Four? When does Season Five premiere, William? Some questions might get answered, while others could remain a mystery!
Battle Beast Continues to Rage
As of now, Kirkman isn’t finished exploring the Invincible universe, delving back into Mark Grayson’s world post-comic book ending to concentrate on the ferocious feline character, Battle Beast. The comic book series has taken off and ranks among the best-selling comics for its launch month. Initially, we wanted to know from Kirkman if there were any plans to pass the torch of this series over to Battle Beast’s successor as introduced in the original
I’m here noting that this isn’t an ongoing saga, but rather a monthly series titled ‘Battle Beast,’ which isn’t intended to last forever, yet it has a substantial number of issues lined up. This tale centers around Thokk, better known as Battle Beast, and when you finish the entire Battle Beast arc, you’ll find yourself in a unique position to revisit ‘Invincible.’ Your comprehension of Battle Beast’s character and motivations will likely deepen, and I believe it will significantly enrich your reading experience of those Invincible issues.
Among the various Image characters made real in the Amazon series, the casting of Battle Beast took many by surprise. While Michael Dorn is well-known among pop culture enthusiasts as Worf from the Star Trek universe, he has stepped into the role of Thokk this time around. In the previous season of Invincible, Battle Beast worked alongside Omni-Man and Allen the Alien against the Viltrumites, imprisoning them. As we see in the finale of the third season, Battle Bebe is gearing up for his next fight. So, Invincible fans should brace themselves for a significant role from Battle Beast in future seasons.
