As a devoted Spider-Man fan myself, I’m thrilled to share that “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will be my fourth adventure as Marvel’s iconic wall-crawler, making this milestone unmatched among live-action Spidey actors. It’s evident that I’ve formed a deep bond with this character, and in the process of working on this new film, I’ve dedicated significant effort to ensuring Peter Parker’s story remains true to fans’ desires. Interestingly, I let slip a behind-the-scenes detail about my suit for this movie.
Tom Holland Says He Fights For “What’s Best For Peter Parker”
After the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland secretly delved into extensive research to understand what fans were discussing online about the film. His goal was to get a sense of their expectations for the upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. For the first time, Holland has been granted the chance to contribute to Peter Parker’s storyline development, and he intends to make the most of it. As he shared…
I’ve gotten to know Peter Parker so well, and it’s been fantastic that the fanbase has been so open about what they treasure from the series. We’ve been able to focus on those aspects and make the most of them. That’s why I enjoy advocating for the character, being involved in the discussions, and ensuring our decisions benefit Peter Parker, as he seems more like a trusted friend than just a character. It’s quite unusual yet enjoyable revisiting him again; it feels like catching up with an old buddy.
Tom Holland seems to view Peter Parker as an old friend due to the numerous times he’s portrayed Spiderman across various movies like Spider-Man films, Avengers series, and his debut in Captain America: Civil War. By the time Brand New Day premieres, he will have played Spidey a total of seven times, which is quite a lot even within the MCU. While some fans believe that Holland’s time as Spider-Man might be wrapping up after the new movie, this is by no means confirmed.
That amount of time in the role also, as it turns out, means a significant amount of laundry.
The Spider-Man Suit Can Get A Little Smelly After A While
Similar to many other performers, Holland engages in various professional pursuits beyond acting. He has his own line of non-alcoholic beer called Bero, and he has been chosen as the brand ambassador for Parda’s fragrance. When Esquire brought up the possibility of needing a little fragrance during filming of the Spider-Man movies, considering the tight suit might acquire an unwelcome odor of its own, Holland acknowledged this to be true, stating…
Yeah, it definitely does. I probably get a new suit every two weeks, I reckon.
I’d honestly never considered this but, obviously, it makes sense. My only question is, does the old suit get cleaned and reused down the road, or is it just disposed of? Many actors have talked about how complex (and tight) superhero costumes can be. Considering that the costume is specially made for the film and isn’t necessarily made to be regular clothing, cleaning it likely requires a special process, if it’s even possible at all.
As a film enthusiast eagerly awaiting “Spider-Man: A Fresh Start,” I can’t help but ponder how many Spidey suits Tom Holland might don during production. If it were up to him, every suit change would be a step towards crafting an outstanding Spider-Man movie that’s worth the wait. Come July 31, 2026, we’ll once again witness Holland breathe life into Peter Parker on the big screen as his latest Marvel adventure hits cinemas!
