The Star Wars series finds itself in an unusual position, with a few significant films on the horizon – such as “The Mandalorian & Grogu” and “Star Wars: Starfighter.” However, it’s been quite some time since we last saw a Star Wars film in theaters. Instead, Lucasfilm has been investing heavily in television productions, both live-action and animated. The outcome has been somewhat varied, but there are undeniably high points, like the finale of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” which stands as one of Lucasfilm’s best conclusions to date. Regrettably, it’s the negative experiences that tend to stick in our minds more.
An upsurge in Star Wars production has triggered some concerns over quality. Shows once renowned for their excellence sometimes release peculiar episodes that perplex audiences, causing them to wonder. Below, you’ll find a list of the seven most questionable Star Wars TV episodes.
7) The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 6, “Chapter 22: Guns for Hire”
The third season of ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian’ is its least impressive installment, largely due to focusing more on Bo-Katan Kryze’s tale rather than Din Djarin’s. The 22nd chapter, titled ‘Guns for Hire’, doesn’t advance the main narrative, instead pairing up the Mandalorians to expose a Separatist conspiracy on an alien planet. The addition of Jack Black and Lizzo’s humor contributes to the unusual feel of the episode.
6) The Clone Wars Season 7, Episode 7, “Dangerous Debt”
The final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars begins with an exciting start, however, it falters during its second storyline. Ahsoka Tano regains the spotlight, which is delightful, but her new teammates, the Martez sisters, lack the charm of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The episode “Dangerous Debt” stands out as less engaging compared to others in the arc because it seems purposeless. The crew finds themselves in prison at the start and end of the episode, following an unsuccessful escape attempt.
5) Star Wars Rebels Season 3, Episode 8, “Iron Squadron”
It’s challenging to criticize the heartwarming series, Star Wars Rebels, due to its pleasant nature. However, Season 3 presents an issue when the Iron Squadron is introduced. The Ghost crew typically works well with other rebel groups, but the Iron Squadron provokes them excessively. Despite their success in aerial combat, Mart Mattin and his team lack the necessary charm to continue within the Star Wars franchise.
4) The Book of Boba Fett Episode 3, “Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa”
Not many Star Wars series garner as much criticism as “The Book of Boba Fett“. The majority of criticisms stem from fans not accepting the change in the character of the titular bounty hunter. Although it’s challenging to reject the idea that characters can evolve, it’s tough to justify the third episode of “The Book of Boba Fett“. In this episode, Boba meets a group of cyborgs which seem misfit in a Star Wars production, leading to some bizarre choreography and dialogue.
3) The Mandalorian Chapter 2, Episode 2, “Chapter 10: The Passenger”
In simpler terms, the final episodes of “The Mandalorian” Season 1 laid the groundwork for an exciting second season. However, the beginning of Season 2, specifically Episode 10 titled “The Passenger,” started off quite sluggishly as Din and Grogu found themselves stuck on a frozen planet. Although the creature work was exceptional in this episode, the storyline lacked progression. Including such a filler episode early in the season can often lead to trouble.
2) The Acolyte Episode 7, “Choice”
After just one season, The Acolyte was canceled, so it’s no wonder that one of its episodes is featured on this list. Specifically, Episode 7, titled “Choice,” manages to shed light on the enigma surrounding the planet Brendok. However, like many Star Wars tales, the Jedi characters in “Choice” make questionable decisions, but unfortunately, the show doesn’t provide enough context for their unusual actions.
1) Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie
There’s no urgency to head straight to the comments because “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” isn’t actually an episode, but rather the beginning of the series. Despite its premiere status, it falls short in several aspects, particularly in the introduction of Ahsoka and the Hutt-focused storyline with Rotta. In order to rehabilitate this character, “The Mandalorian & Grogu” has quite a task ahead.
