Every Original Avenger Ranked By How Many People They’ve Saved (The Total Is Too High to Count)

Creating superhero movies comes with a challenge: since characters can fly and shoot lasers, viewers anticipate spectacular action. Yet, maintaining balance is crucial to avoid negative feedback. The movie “Man of Steel,” a reimagining of Superman’s beginning, has faced controversy due to excessive destruction in portraying Superman as a destructive force through Metropolis, causing extensive damage. So severe that the DC Extended Universe felt compelled to tackle the destruction in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe also imparts lessons to its superheroes, one example being in “Captain America: Civil War,” where the Sokovia Accords split the Avengers due to global governments trying to control their actions. However, despite having a less-than-stellar reputation, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes devote a significant amount of time to saving humanity. Here is every original MCU Avenger, listed based on the number of people they have rescued.

6) Hawkeye

Limited as he may be with a bow and arrow, Clint Barton makes significant strides out of the shadows. During his tenure with S.H.I.E.L.D., he emerges into the open in The Avengers, assisting New York City inhabitants to safety amidst the Chitauri Invasion. He takes action once more in Sokovia for Avengers: Age of Ultron, ensuring civilians reach the helicarrier before Ultron’s meteor strike. Despite not having any major global-saving incidents under his belt, Hawkeye still contributes substantially to this ranking.

5) Black Widow

Natasha Romanoff finds herself in a situation not unlike that of her closest confidant, yet she’s had more experience in the field. Alongside assisting in New York and Sokovia, she safeguards people during Iron Man 2 by disabling the Hammer drones and rescues numerous survivors from the Red Room in Black Widow. Moreover, her heroic act of sacrificing herself to procure the Soul Stone in Avengers: Endgame is acknowledged for saving Barton.

4) Captain America

Steve Rogers initially makes a modest impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by rescuing soldiers stranded behind enemy lines in “Captain America: The First Avenger.” However, his contributions significantly escalate as he takes on key roles in thwarting Red Skull’s bombs and HYDRA’s Project Insight, preventing countless fatalities. Furthermore, Steve Rogers is a crucial figure in New York City and Sokovia, thereby earning the gratitude of numerous individuals who can credit him with saving their lives.

3) Thor

As a die-hard fan, I’ve always been fascinated by Thor’s heroic journey. Though he’s over a millennium old, it wasn’t until his first solo movie that we truly saw the God of Thunder’s heroic side emerge. His deeds in saving people throughout his earlier years are undoubtedly remarkable, but let’s focus on what I’ve witnessed since then.

From intervening in Sokovia and New York City to defending Asgard and Vanaheim (introduced in Thor: The Dark World), Thor has proven himself a beacon of hope time and again. And let’s not forget his role in New Mexico, a testament to his global impact.

But the climax of Thor’s heroism comes with his battle against Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder. Not only does he save the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s gods from destruction, but he also protects Eternity itself. This epic battle solidifies Thor as a true champion among the gods, one who will continue to inspire fans like me for years to come.

2) Hulk

Though Hulk might not have been credited for any saves during his initial MCU debut, he certainly made his mark afterwards. The destruction caused by Chitarui and Ultron’s robots would have been catastrophic in Hulk’s absence. Residents of Asgard are indebted to the Hulk too, as he bravely confronted Fenris Wolf during the chaos in Thor: Ragnarok. Lastly, a remarkable highlight on Hulk’s resumé is his employment of the Nano Gauntlet in Endgame, restoring everyone who had been turned to dust. Among the Avengers, there are few who can boast of accomplishments greater than that.

1) Iron Man

Tony Stark, the initial Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) hero, carries a significant amount of red on his record due to his questionable business dealings. Yet, he doesn’t stick to the shadows perpetually; instead, he undergoes a transformation and dedicates himself wholeheartedly as a hero. What truly distinguishes him among his fellow Avengers is that in the movie “The Avengers,” he prevents Manhattan from being destroyed by a nuclear bomb, and in “Endgame,” he gives up his life by employing the Infinity Stones to eliminate Thanos’ army and protect the entire galaxy. No other character in the MCU, whether an Avenger or not, will ever match Tony Stark’s contributions.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe projects are streaming on Disney+.
