Borderlands 4 is now available, but many of its quests feel pretty standard. The game isn’t known for being overly challenging, and it clearly marks everything you need to do. If you somehow get stuck, this guide will walk you through the steps to complete it.

The Coastal Bonescape safehouse is the first location you unlock after the game’s brief opening. Claptrap walks you through the whole process, and honestly, it’s a bit irritating, so it’s hard to imagine anyone getting stuck there.

If you get stuck at any point, simply follow the steps outlined in the “Recruitment Drive” quest – it’s the first quest you receive when the game begins.

Just follow Claptrap’s instructions until you defeat Splashzone and get the boost pack. Then, head to the tower with the broken elevator – you’ll need to fix it as part of the game’s tutorial.

Return to the elevated area where you battled Splashzone. Follow Claptrap’s instructions carefully, as this section is very linear and acts as a detailed tutorial.

After reaching the top, find a bolt on a nearby body and use it to restart the elevator. Then, wait for Claptrap to arrive. Once he does, open the door for him and proceed with the instructions from the quest inside.

Pick up the datapad, then find and activate the console in the same area – it will be marked on your map. You’ve now secured your first safehouse! Finding the others works the same way, but you won’t have those obvious map markers guiding you.

This safehouse is similar to others, but you’ll need to search the nearby area to find the datapad instead of finding it right next to the console. You won’t be stuck searching for long, though – Borderlands generally keeps its optional tasks straightforward and easy to find.
