Most anime and manga fans are familiar with the “Big Three” – *One Piece*, *Naruto*, and *Bleach*. These three series became incredibly popular around twenty years ago, during the height of long-running action manga in *Shonen Jump* magazine. Each one offered something different and influenced many manga that followed. *One Piece* is still being published and holds the record for the best-selling manga ever, while *Naruto* and *Bleach* have finished their runs. Despite ending, all three series continue to have dedicated fans who still refer to them as the Big Three.
The world of anime and manga has evolved significantly, with many exciting new series emerging and sometimes becoming even more popular than older favorites. Unlike the original “Big Three” series, many of today’s manga don’t run for decades, which makes it hard to definitively name a new “Big Three.” While series like *My Hero Academia*, *Jujutsu Kaisen*, and *Demon Slayer* were strong contenders for a while, now that those stories have finished, new, currently-running titles are quickly gaining popularity and entering the conversation.
3) Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
The sequel to *Jujutsu Kaisen*, titled *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo*, quickly became popular after releasing just one chapter, signaling another hit for the series. With the original manga ending recently and the third season of the anime still to come, *Jujutsu Kaisen* maintains a strong and eager fanbase. Fans were pleasantly surprised in September 2025 when the franchise continued with new characters. Although the sequel will only run for about six months, that should be plenty of time to create an exciting new story.
Even though *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo* is a short series, it has the potential to become very popular if it maintains its current quality. It quickly reached the #1 spot on Manga Plus, putting it in the same league as series connected to or competing with the biggest names in manga. However, it would be unusual for a series with such a short run to achieve that level of success.
2) Kagurabachi
Two years ago, *Kagurabachi* launched and quickly became a sensation, even before anyone had read it. Despite predictions that the initial excitement would fade, the series has only grown in popularity, and now there’s talk of an anime being made. From the very beginning, *Kagurabachi* has successfully combined fantasy elements with a modern world, featuring a power system that’s both interesting and intricate. While *One Piece* remains in a league of its own in *Weekly Shonen Jump*, *Kagurabachi* is currently one of the most popular series available.
1) Ichi the Witch
While Ichi the Witch is a more recent series, having just celebrated its first anniversary, it’s quickly gaining popularity and sales numbers comparable to established manga. The series stands out not only for its creative story and magic system, but also thanks to Desscaras, a stunning and incredibly powerful supporting character. With a solid foundation already in place, an anime announcement within the next year seems very likely.
