Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined’s PS5 Characters Are Based on Real-Life Models

Akira Toriyama, the recently deceased artist, heavily influenced the popular look of the Dragon Quest games. However, some fans aren’t thrilled with the art style chosen for the upcoming remake of Dragon Quest 7.

I just saw a new video from the creator of Dragon Quest, Yuji Horii, and it blew my mind! Apparently, Square Enix didn’t just *design* the Hero, Kiefer, and the rest of the characters – they actually built real, physical models of them! Then, they scanned those models *into* the game. That’s incredible detail!

This is all in an effort to create a “diorama” style look.

The developer also mentioned that this release will be easier to get into, as they’ve reduced some of the role-playing game’s content and made adjustments to simplify it.

If the recent changes seem annoying or let you down, remember that finishing the original PlayStation 1 game takes about 80 hours, and completing absolutely everything can take around 170 hours. So, a little bit of simplification is probably a good thing.

The video also revealed that players can now learn two different character classes, called “Vocations”. This allows for more customization and lets you combine skills from different jobs to create a unique playstyle.
