4 Marvel Characters Actually Stronger Than Thor in the MCU

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Asgard is a remarkably powerful realm. For millennia, Odin maintained peace across the Nine Realms, but eventually his son took over. Odin’s wife, Frigga, was a skilled illusionist and taught Loki everything he knew about trickery. By the time the *Thor* movies begin, however, Odin and Frigga have become less active, leaving Loki and Thor to handle most of the responsibility. Loki proves to be a master manipulator, while Thor consistently goes above and beyond as a hero, ultimately joining the Avengers and helping to save the galaxy from Thanos.

It’s tragic that Thor has witnessed the deaths of his entire family and won’t be joining them in Valhalla anytime soon. This is because his incredible power – and his ability to wield weapons like Stormbreaker that can kill gods – keeps him bound to the realm of the living. Despite being Asgard’s strongest hero, Thor isn’t the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here are four Marvel characters who actually surpass him in strength.

4) Loki

The Loki that Thor knew from his original timeline is gone, but another version of Loki still exists. This Loki was created when the Avengers altered time, and he ended up in the custody of the Time Variance Authority. However, this organization isn’t as straightforward as it appears. With the death of He Who Remains, someone needed to take control and prevent the multiverse from falling apart, and Loki volunteered. Accepting this new role seems to awaken incredible power within him. While the full extent of these powers is still unknown, they’ll likely make him just as powerful as Thor.

3) G’iah

The Skrulls are dangerous because they can change their appearance, letting them blend in anywhere. While most Skrulls aren’t violent, Gravik is a major exception. After gaining more power, he forces Talos’ daughter, G’iah, to enhance herself as well, exposing her to something called the Harvest – a collection of genetic material that gives her powers from various Marvel heroes, including Thanos and Captain Marvel. It’s unclear if G’iah will use these incredible abilities again, but right now, very few could defeat her.

2) Adam Warlock

Adam Warlock’s first appearance in *Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3* wasn’t particularly impactful. He struggled during his pursuit of the Guardians and didn’t demonstrate the full extent of his powers as seen in the comics. However, he emerged from his cocoon prematurely, suggesting he still has potential to develop. Once he masters his abilities, he’s likely to become a formidable and powerful force in the galaxy.

1) Franklin Richards

Even though he’s very young, as shown in the post-credits scene of *The Fantastic Four: First Steps*, Franklin Richards is already demonstrating incredible power in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Because he has access to the Power Cosmic, Reed and Susan Richards’ son has virtually unlimited potential, making him a target for villains. They should act fast, though – Franklin will likely be able to stop their plans easily before long, all while still enjoying his childhood.
