Lori Harvey Shares Symptoms That Led to PCOS, Endometriosis Diagnoses

Lori Harvey is sharing a glimpse into her private health battle.

As someone who’s spent years helping others prioritize their well-being, I want to share something personal. I finally received diagnoses of both PCOS and endometriosis. For years, I struggled with painful periods and a lot of frustrating symptoms, but it felt like my concerns weren’t always taken seriously by doctors. It was a long road to getting answers, and I’m hoping by sharing my story, I can encourage others to advocate for their own health.

Lori, 28, shared on the September 16th episode of the SHEMD podcast that she used to experience incredibly painful periods. She described feeling like she needed hospital care due to severe cramps, even after taking 800 milligrams of Ibuprofen. Doctors often dismissed her pain, suggesting Tylenol would help, but she knew something wasn’t right and that her experience wasn’t normal.

The model, who has experienced these issues since she was sixteen, explained that her doctor initially dismissed her periods as typical, despite her repeatedly saying she didn’t feel right.

But her agonizing cycle wasn’t the only red flag that stood out to her.

She explained that her weight went up and down a lot. She’d often diet strictly and exercise intensely, only allowing herself carbohydrates if she was working out twice in one day. But then, when she’d go on vacation and relax her diet, she’d quickly regain all the weight she’d lost, as if her efforts hadn’t mattered.

Although Lori was disappointed with the lack of answers about her inflammation, her doctors hadn’t yet discovered the cause. Feeling frustrated, she shared her symptoms with her mother, Marjorie Harvey, who is married to Steve Harvey. Marjorie suggested she see her OBGYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, who also co-hosts the show *SHEMD*.

I’ll never forget my first appointment. I went in expecting a normal checkup, but the doctor quickly let me know things weren’t that simple. That’s when I learned I had both PCOS and endometriosis.

After Lori received her diagnosis, she and her mother began learning about the condition together, as it was something new to both of them. Thanks to Dr. A’s help in managing Lori’s endometriosis and chronic inflammation, her hormone levels have stabilized, and she’s no longer experiencing the symptoms she used to.

She said she finally feels comfortable and confident in her body, something she wished she’d experienced at sixteen. She feels more at home in her body now than ever before.

Oh my gosh, can you believe Lupita Nyong’o dealt with uterine fibroids – those non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus – *the same year* she won her Oscar for *12 Years a Slave*?! It’s just… incredible. She was battling that while achieving such a huge milestone, it’s honestly inspiring and breaks my heart to think about. I just found out and I’m still reeling!

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, sharing on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, many girls are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of womanhood. This often leads to women dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from *Daisy Jones & The Six* revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.

She messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “You haven’t tweeted in ages!” She then jokingly added, “I’ve been meaning to tell you, but I think wearing super tight pants six months ago gave me a hernia, and I’ve been afraid to say anything.”

The former star of *Beverly Hills, 90210* shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery to fix a nearly ruptured appendix.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

A Racing Louisville soccer player fell to the ground shortly after the start of their game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, just before she collapsed. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.

After receiving initial medical attention on the field, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests. League officials reported she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

“It’s been a terrible experience,” Devine shared on the *In Depth With Graham Bensinger* podcast in 2025. “I’ve been having spasms all over my body, and doctors told me recently – within the last year – that my condition was life-threatening.”

He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite working as it should.

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said the pain was so bad he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and it got worse during a road trip with a friend.

He described a strange tingling sensation that still lingered in his knees and toes as of a March 2025 podcast episode of *Trading Secrets*. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat or stand on one foot without falling. He compared the feeling to having had a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from *The Real Housewives of Orange County*, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

I was so worried when I heard about Tracy Morgan! Back in March 2025, he had a health issue right at a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, and they actually had to wheel him out. It was really scary to see.

Oh my gosh, I was SO worried! He posted an update yesterday, thankfully, and it turns out he just had some really bad food poisoning! He said he’s getting better, and honestly, that’s all I needed to hear. I was a mess, but it’s such a relief it wasn’t anything serious!

I was absolutely shocked to hear that Christy Carlson Romano, who I grew up watching on *Even Stevens*, was shot in the face! Apparently, it happened while she was on a fun outing with her husband, Brendan Rooney, to celebrate his birthday – they were out shooting clay pigeons. It’s just so scary to think about, and I’m glad she’s okay.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped her, evaluated her injuries, and got her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within less than an inch.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I just heard the latest and I’m SO worried! Apparently, a tiny piece of something got stuck behind her eye, and the doctors are saying it’s too dangerous to try and take out right now. She said they’re going to keep a close watch on her, but thankfully she can still see perfectly! I’m just sending all my positive vibes her way and hoping everything goes okay. It’s just… she’s amazing and I can’t even imagine her having trouble with her vision!

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often harsh nature, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” during interviews, Schumer was surprised when doctors began commenting on her appearance online, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out significant changes in her face and recommended she get checked for the condition, which can be caused by high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Schumer to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections for her breast reduction and C-section scars. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, and she’s relieved to be healthy. She shared this positive update in a February 2024 newsletter, calling the news ‘the greatest news imaginable.’

An AHL hockey player suffered a skate cut during a December 2024 game, requiring 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Although these symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for tests. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further examination at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the hole in her heart and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better, adding that they were grateful he was going to be okay. It had been a frightening and unexpected situation, but he was expected to make a full recovery.

Jamie Foxx initially kept the reasons for his April 2023 hospitalization quiet, but he eventually shared what happened. He explained that while in Atlanta, he suffered a severe headache and asked for aspirin. Before he could take it, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

He first saw a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home. However, his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital, where doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.

After surgery, twenty days later, on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

Jamie expressed his gratitude for the support he received, saying, “I appreciate every prayer, because I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.

She shared on the show *Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser* that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. After that, she saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially begins to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the show, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described becoming violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

After being taken to the hospital, doctors diagnosed her with a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. It was discovered she had an aneurysm, a ruptured blood vessel. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she temporarily lost her ability to speak, often muttering incoherently.

Though her speech returned after a week and she was discharged from the hospital after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This surgery was unsuccessful, leading to a massive bleed and a dire prognosis. Doctors had to perform a more invasive procedure, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared how thankful she is for her family’s support after experiencing a stroke in January 2024. She told TopMob News that she immediately texted her family and sent a picture, and they all rushed to be with her. Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to complications with lupus and kidney issues. Thankfully, she’s now recovering well. “I’m doing great,” she said. “I just needed to work on regaining some motor skills, but otherwise I’m fine.”

Oh my gosh, I was SO worried about Shailene Woodley! I just listened to her on the *SHE MD Podcast* and it broke my heart hearing about what she went through in her early twenties. Apparently, it was a really tough time for her health. She said she actually started *losing her hearing* and couldn’t even walk for more than five minutes without needing to sleep for *hours*. Everything she ate caused her pain! It was just a confusing mess of different diagnoses and doctors telling her different things. She’s always been into holistic health and herbalism, so she took it into her own hands, working with both traditional doctors *and* independent healers, trying to find some peace. It took *ten years* to figure things out! She explained how all the physical discomfort led to a lot of mental struggles – being afraid of food, dealing with body dysmorphia, and just feeling lost in her own skin. But the best part? She’s doing SO much better now! She said the issues physically resolved themselves and she’s incredibly healthy and happy. I’m just so relieved to hear her say that!
