Good news for Cyberpunk 2077 players hoping for a sequel! A recent job posting from CD Projekt Red suggests that Cyberpunk 2 could include online multiplayer, letting players team up and explore the game world together.
CD Projekt Red (CDPR) recently posted job openings on X, seeking people to join their teams and work on future games like *The Witcher 4* and *Cyberpunk 2*. One particularly noteworthy position is for a Lead Network Engineer.
The Lead Network Engineer position involves leading a team in the design and implementation of our network and online systems. It’s a key role in building and maintaining our infrastructure.
The role also involves a few everyday tasks, such as building and improving the systems that allow players to connect and compete with each other, including how they’re paired up for games.
As a big fan, I remember when CD Projekt Red first announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would have a multiplayer mode. It was super exciting! But then they changed course and decided to scrap those plans completely. Honestly, I’m okay with that. They’re now putting all their energy into making the core game the best it can be and focusing on the Phantom Liberty expansion, and that’s what really matters to me now.
CD Projekt Red is hiring in North America for several roles on The Witcher and Cyberpunk projects! We’re looking for a Lead Producer for Project Sirius, a Lead Producer for Cyberpunk 2, and a Lead Technical Producer. Other open positions include Lead AI Engineer, Lead Technical Animator, Senior Engine Programmer, and Lead Network Engineer. Apply now to join our team!

It looks like they might finally be adding the multiplayer feature they’ve been talking about for years, based on a recent job posting. While they haven’t officially confirmed it, everything suggests that’s where they’re going.
It’s exciting to think about how they’ll add multiplayer to a game focused on a single-player story. However, we likely won’t see any details about this feature for quite a while.
So, CD Projekt Red is currently working on the next Witcher game – basically, The Witcher 4 – and they’re aiming to have it out around 2027. I’m already hyped!
