On September 18, GSC Game World released a patch for its Legends of the Zone remaster of the original Stalker games that adds Nvidia DLSS support, a seemingly absurd addition to the ancient shooters that makes more sense when you dig into the specifics of the remaster.
Many of today’s most visually impressive games now *require* technologies like Nvidia’s DLSS to run smoothly. So, it’s surprising to see these features added to the remastered “Legends of the Zone” pack, especially since the original game, “Shadow of Chornobyl,” is quite old – it was released in 2007.
A Steam user named Avdievs noted that even if a game runs smoothly, the texture filtering and antialiasing features of DLSS can still be beneficial. They pointed out that Legends of the Zone might actually demand more from a computer than previous versions of the game.
A user named Spleen commented that DLSS is ideal for anyone wanting to play with the demanding indirect lighting in Legends of the Zone at 4K resolution with a frame rate of 60 or higher. They also mentioned their powerful 5080 graphics card was struggling to maintain a stable 120 frames per second at 4K with the new lighting effects, stating they weren’t opposed to using DLSS to help.
