Hollow Knight: Silksong Guide – All 6 Silk Skills And How To Unlock Them

Silk Skills in *Hollow Knight: Silksong* function similarly to Tools. Before Hornet can use them, you need to equip them to a Crest in the white slot while at a bench. However, unlike Tools, Silk Skills use up Hornet’s Silk meter, which is mainly refilled by defeating enemies. Obtaining these skills requires effort – you’ll earn them by defeating hidden bosses or by activating idols in secret areas.

This guide covers all six of the hidden Silk Skills in *Hollow Knight: Silksong*, detailing where to find them and what you need to unlock them.

Cross Stitch

Bind Silk wraps around your weapon, deflecting incoming attacks and allowing you to immediately counterstrike.

Block incoming attacks and immediately counter with a quick strike.

To learn the Cross Stitch Silk skill, you must defeat the Phantom, a hidden boss found within Bilewater’s Exhaust Organ. You’ll need a Needolin to navigate the maze in The Mist to reach it.

Pale Nails

Technique taken from the primal source of Silk. Spin talons from thread that seek out enemies.

Create sharp talons of Silk that automatically fly toward and strike enemies.

To complete this task, you’ll need to travel to the very top of The Citadel within The Cradle and defeat Grand Mother Silk. After defeating her, you must then bind Grand Mother Silk’s Arm. Reaching this area requires mastering and using the Silk Soar Ancestral Art.

Rune Rage

Forgotten Weaver technique. Sew rending runes upon one’s enemies.

Mark enemies with Silk runes that tear into them, dealing continuous damage.

Defeat the First Sinner secret boss located within The Slab in the bottom right chamber.

Sharpdart

Deadly Weaver technique. Pierce through enemies in a blur of blade and Silk.

Dash forward in a blur, releasing a Silk blade that pierces through multiple enemies.

You’ll find an idol hidden at the end of a passage in the central-left part of Wormways. You’ll need either the Clawline or Faydown Cloak to get to it, and then Needolin to unlock the door leading to it.

Silkspear

Deadly Weaver technique. Throw the needle forward with force amplified by coiled Silk.

Attack by throwing the needle forward. Silk will be expended.

Check the upper-right area near the Druid’s house for a building. You’ll need a special Silk Skill to remove any obstacles and continue exploring.

Thread Storm

Deadly Weaver technique. Cast the needle in a whirl of Silk around oneself, lashing foes.

Attack by whipping a storm of Silk around.

Look for an idol at the very top on the right side of Greymoor. Use the chained balloons to float up, but be careful to steer clear of the thorns.

Those are all six of the white Silk Skills to be unlocked in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
