Coronation Street legend Kym Marsh cast in iconic role from ’90s thriller

Actress Kym Marsh, who was once a prominent figure on the soap opera Coronation Street, is set to take on her next significant part, which might be making its debut at a theater not far from where you are.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been chosen as the star in the theatrical rendition of “Single White Female,” a captivating tale inspired by the 1992 film and John Lutz’s original novel. The adaptation for the stage has been skillfully crafted by Rebecca Reid, an accomplished author, journalist, and broadcaster. I can hardly wait to bring this story to life on stage!

The play is being characterized as a “fresh and contemporary reinvention,” brimming with “dark wit.” It’s deeply connected with the era of social media, exploring topics like ambition, fixation, and solitude.

In this fresh take on the story, Gordon Greenberg will be at the helm. Here, Marsh takes on the role of Allie, a woman fresh from divorce, skillfully juggling single parenthood and the debut of her technology startup.

The original film starred Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda as Hedra and Allison respectively.

After facing difficulties in her engagement, Allison takes on Hedra as her roommate. As their friendship blossoms, Hedra develops an unhealthy fixation on Allison.

Speaking about her upcoming role, Marsh expressed her enthusiasm in a statement: “I can hardly contain my excitement as I prepare to share this fresh, extraordinary, and pulse-pounding production with audiences in England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

The first time I watched that movie in the theater left me completely captivated, little did I know then that I would eventually step onto the stage for its world premiere performance. Prepare yourself for excitement, surprise, and enjoyment, just beware of those sharp stilettos!

Most notably, Marsh gained recognition through her television appearances on shows like Coronation Street and Waterloo Road. Her initial claim to fame came from being a member of the pop group Hear’Say.

Since then, she has been co-hosting Morning Live with presenter Gethin Jones. Previously, she was a guest on Strictly Come Dancing and 5’s The Weekend Travel Show.

The stage show “Single White Female” will begin its run in Brighton on the 9th of January, 2026.

The show will subsequently travel to various locations, including Nottingham, Cardiff, York, Manchester, Blackpool, Sheffield, Woking, Cambridge, Cheltenham, Richmond, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bath, Stoke-on-Trent, Glasgow, and Malvern.

Further dates are set to be announced, with full casting also yet to be confirmed.
