Tubi Announces New R.L. Stine Movie Coming This Halloween (But It’s Not a New Goosebumps)

Although the *Goosebumps* series ended after two seasons on Disney+ and Hulu, R.L. Stine’s scary stories are still popular. His books have been adapted for movies and TV many times, and now another one is coming to screens this Halloween. Tubi announced that *R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead* will be a new original movie available on the service next month.

This *Pumpkinhead* movie isn’t related to the 1988 film of the same name. It’s based on a short story by R.L. Stine called *The Haunting Hour*. Like many of Stine’s stories, this version is aimed at young adults and features a group of young people facing a powerful, relentless enemy. You can watch it for free on Tubi starting October 17th.

R.L. Stine’s *Pumpkinhead* follows Sam, a young man dealing with a difficult move to a new town. When his brother vanishes, Sam must fight against a frightening curse connected to the harvest season. Read the official summary for more details.

Sam initially dreaded moving to Redhaven, but things got much worse when his brother, Finn, disappeared – and nobody, including their mother, seemed to remember Finn ever existed. As Halloween approaches, Sam teams up with his friend Becka and Rusty, the town’s oddest resident, to break a dangerous harvest curse before Finn is lost for good.

The movie features Adeline Lo, Kevin McNulty, Bob Frazer, Matty Finochio, and Seth Isaac Johnson. Jem Garrard, known for directing the 2024 film *Slay* on Tubi, as well as episodes of popular shows like *Charmed*, *Virgin River*, and *Wynonna Earp*, wrote and directed the film. Jem Garrard, James Mattagne, Joan Waricha, Harvey Kahn, Yvonne Bernard, Dan Bernard, Allen Lewis, and Rama Diallo all served as executive producers.

Tubi’s Chief Content Officer, Adam Lewinson, describes R.L. Stine’s *Pumpkinhead* as a fun and spooky adventure that captures the spirit of Halloween and appeals to fans of young adult horror. He expressed excitement about working with the renowned author, R.L. Stine, and expanding Tubi’s collection of engaging, multi-generational stories.

R.L. Stine said something’s wrong with the pumpkins – and it’s not just the insides! He’s thrilled that one of his scariest Halloween tales is now a spooky new movie.
