I’ve tested a lot of office chairs designed for comfort, but the LiberNovo Omni chair is truly impressive. I was immediately interested when I first learned about it. LiberNovo claims this is the world’s first chair that actively adjusts to your back using electronic parts, helping you maintain good posture while you sit.
I recently came across LiberNovo, a brand new company, and their very first product: a dynamic ergonomic chair. It’s quite a bold introduction! Understandably, because they’re so new – and the chair started as a Kickstarter campaign earlier this year – a lot of people are taking a ‘wait and see’ approach to their claims. It’s not every day you see a completely new company launching with such an ambitious product.
I was really excited when LiberNovo offered me the chance to try their product. They promised it was comfortable and easily adjustable, and I was eager to see if it lived up to the hype.
I’ve been using the LiberNovo Omni for just over a month, and this is my full review.
Pricing and availability
You can purchase LiberNovo Omni directly from the LiberNovo website for $1,099. It comes in black and white, and includes the battery and cable needed for its adjustable features. The battery isn’t available for purchase on its own.
Right now, you can only buy the product directly from the LiberNovo website. It’s not sold at stores like Amazon or Best Buy, which might be inconvenient for some. However, LiberNovo offers a solid warranty: 5 years for the chair itself and 2 years for any electronic parts. If anything breaks or malfunctions with normal use during those periods, they’ll repair or replace it for free.
LiberNovo is offering an optional leg rest to enhance the Omni chair’s spinal stretch function. While it can add to the experience, the leg rest isn’t included with the chair and isn’t required to use the stretching features.
Build quality and assembly

I was immediately impressed with how the chair looked when it arrived. While it comes disassembled, it’s actually quite easy to put together, even by yourself. The instructions are printed on a large card that also protects the parts during shipping, which makes assembly really simple.
It might look a little intimidating when you first open the box, but it actually comes together really easily. You just need to attach a couple of parts and plug in one cable connecting the chair back to the base. I was surprised by how quickly it set up – I had it fully assembled in less than 15 minutes.
The chair arrives securely packaged with everything well-protected. Each part is individually wrapped to prevent scratches or damage during shipping. Smaller items like the battery and wheels are packed in a separate box within the main package for extra safety. Because the box is quite heavy, it’s best to ask someone for help bringing it inside and to where you’ll be using the chair.

If you order the Omni footrest, it will arrive in its own box. Don’t worry, it’s just as easy to set up as the main chair! The instructions are printed right on the cardboard packaging, which also protects the parts inside.
The chair is very well-made. It uses quality fabrics and comfortable cushions for the parts you sit on – the seat, back, and headrest. The frame and less noticeable parts are made of durable plastic. A metal rod inside controls the lumbar support and massage functions.
Design, comfort and features

The LiberNovo Omni is a really attractive office chair. It has a design similar to those made by Herman Miller, giving it a high-quality, luxurious look. Considering the price, it definitely lives up to expectations in terms of appearance, and offers good value for the money.
While the chair generally looks high quality, I think using more premium materials for some of the plastic parts would have been a nice improvement, especially given the price. For example, metal for the back and underside of the seat would have made it feel more substantial. That said, these aren’t areas you typically handle, so it’s not a major flaw.
I was really impressed with how comfortable this chair is. It’s incredibly adjustable – you can customize almost everything. I could easily change the support for my lower back, the headrest, the seat itself, and the armrests. The lumbar support is controlled by two buttons on the left arm, and a motor gently moves it up and down while you’re sitting. It’s a really nice feature.

Adjusting the lumbar support is now incredibly simple. You no longer need to strain or reach back – just stay seated and use the buttons to easily raise or lower the support until it feels comfortable for you.
You’ll need to adjust the headrest and seat by hand, but you can conveniently adjust the headrest while sitting down. Simply reach behind your head and pull the lever forward to move it closer or further away. You can also raise or lower it by pushing up or down.
The seat can lean back up to 160 degrees and locks in four positions: 105, 120, 135, and 160 degrees. You adjust it with a lever on the right side under the seat. A clever detail: the lever itself shows you which locked position you’ve selected.
You can also use the lever under the seat to change the chair’s height. To raise the chair, lift your weight off the seat and pull the lever. To lower it, simply stay seated and pull the lever – it’s very easy to adjust!

The armrests are highly adjustable to fit your preferences. You can move them up and down, forward and back, and side to side. Plus, you can angle them inward or outward for optimal comfort.
LiberNovo describes its chair as ‘dynamic ergonomic’ because it moves with you. Unlike typical chairs, when you recline, the entire chair – the back, seat, armrests, and headrest – adjusts. Even small movements, like leaning to the side when you relax, are met with subtle adjustments in the back and headrest, keeping you comfortable.
This chair is completely customizable – you can adjust pretty much everything to get the perfect fit. Plus, the electronic motor allows for some nice extras, like a spinal stretching massage, in addition to standard adjustments like lumbar support and back height.
To turn on the spinal stretching massage, simply press the button located next to the lumbar support controls on the left armrest. A light will illuminate to confirm it’s activated, and you’ll feel a gentle massage moving up and down your back.
This massage mode works best when you recline significantly, up to 160 degrees. Using the leg rest lets you lie almost flat, intensifying the back massage. It works by gently rubbing and kneading your back from the lower to mid sections, providing a soothing stretch.

I was skeptical when I first saw the LiberNovo Omni presentation, but after trying it, I have to admit I was completely mistaken. Having dealt with lower back pain from sitting for years, the spinal stretching function has been a huge relief.
The main drawback is the motor is a bit noisy. It’s not overly loud, but you can definitely hear it in a quiet room. It makes a high-pitched whine typical of electric motors, which won’t bother you if you’re by yourself or using headphones. However, if you’re working in a shared office, nearby coworkers will likely be able to hear it.
The motor needs power to run, and it gets that from a battery pack that easily slides under the chair. LiberNovo says the battery should last about 30 days with daily use of the spinal stretch feature. If you don’t use the stretch feature every day, the battery will last even longer.
The battery pack charges with USB-C and is 2,200mAh in size.
Conclusion

I really like the LiberNovo Omni. It’s the most impressive office chair I’ve reviewed in a while, and it generally delivers on its promises. It looks good, feels comfortable, and the built-in back stretching function is actually helpful during long workdays. It’s one of the few chairs where I could easily find a truly comfortable position.
As a big fan, I’m really excited about LiberNovo, but I’m also realistic. It’s still pretty new, so it’s hard to say how well it will hold up over the long term. One thing I’ve noticed is the warranty is different for the electronics versus the rest of the chair – 2 years for the electronics and 5 years for everything else. That makes me wonder about how durable those electronic parts are, to be honest.
During my testing, the chair performed flawlessly – I didn’t notice any issues or malfunctions. While $1,099 is a significant investment, it’s competitively priced compared to other high-end office chairs, especially considering its features and capabilities.
