Kelly Stafford isn’t letting Matthew Stafford fumble this family planning matter.
She admitted to being momentarily worried when Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was slow to get up after taking a hit to the groin during the September 22nd game against the Eagles. However, she was able to laugh it off after he reassured her he was alright, though a bit bruised.
On the September 23rd episode of her podcast, *The Morning After*, she playfully told him, “Looks like God is handling things since you haven’t had a vasectomy in two years.” She added with a laugh, “God always finds a way when you don’t take care of business.”
After the game, Matthew joked about getting injured, saying he was hit in a very sensitive area and needed a moment to recover. He assured everyone he was okay.
Matthew and Kelly, parents to twins Sawyer and Chandler (8), Hunter (7), and Tyler (5), are known for their playful sense of humor. Kelly recently teased her husband, a 2022 Super Bowl winner, about his choice not to wear his wedding ring during the game, jokingly suggesting he swap it for a rubber band instead.
On her podcast on September 18th, Kelly playfully asked her husband, “Why haven’t you?” She quickly clarified, “I’m just kidding! I don’t mean to put you on the spot, and I understand you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.”
It’s important to stay positive, especially since Matthew’s job often involves major choices that affect the whole family, like the possibility of him being traded to a different team earlier in the year.
Matthew explained on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce that recent trade rumors were difficult for his family, as they created uncertainty about the future.
However, the couple has stayed strong by remaining a united front.
Kelly explained that the player wanted to be involved in any decision about a potential trade. She told TopMob News in February that she’d made it clear to him it was his choice, and she would tell him directly if she felt he should retire, but ultimately wanted him to decide for himself.

In November 2024, Kelly Stafford revealed she felt overwhelmed and upset when she found out on Instagram that her husband, Matthew Stafford, was being traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Minnesota Vikings.
Her first instinct was to text Matt right away, “like, ‘What’s happening?'” she shared on an episode of her podcast The Morning After With Kelly & Hank. “And that’s one thing you don’t want to text your husband. ‘Hey, have you heard you’re getting traded?’”
Honestly, it just broke my heart when she called his sweet message “inappropriate”! Like, she said he should be the one to mention it first, assuming he *already knew* about all the gossip. It’s like she didn’t even *want* him to care, unless he jumped through her hoops first! I just don’t get it, it was such a thoughtful thing to say, and she shut it down immediately.
After moving to Los Angeles in 2021 following 12 years in Detroit, the family would be heartbroken if they had to move again, Kelly explained. She emphasized that keeping the family together is her top priority, saying it wouldn’t be right to keep Matt away from his daughters or the daughters from their father. She added that she couldn’t imagine life without him.
In a February 2025 appearance on the *Morning After* show, Kelly shared that trade rumors can be very upsetting. She also mentioned the constant guessing about her husband’s potential retirement was frustrating, and suggested the Rams organization could have handled the situation better by limiting the speculation.
She explained that she needed to feel appreciated and respected. She felt like she was being treated unfairly, like she had to constantly please others. While she initially tried to ignore it, the lack of respect was really bothering her, and she wanted the other person to receive the respect they deserved.
Matt, who rarely complains, shared on his podcast New Heights in March 2025 that some trade rumors were difficult for his family, as they created uncertainty about the future.
Kelly admitted she might have overstepped when she mentioned on her podcast in August 2023 that many of Matthew’s teammates grew up with a strong connection to their phones and social media.
Cue the headlines about her saying that Matt wasn’t connecting with his fellow Rams.
About a week later, Matthew addressed a rumor, telling ESPN he believes people understand his perspective. He explained they see his consistent work ethic and positive interactions with colleagues, and that he hadn’t given the rumor much thought.
Referring to the January 2025 debate surrounding the *Him & Her* podcast, Kelly stated, “They twisted things to fit their narrative, which is typical for them. However, most people only see the surface-level headlines.”
Kelly isn’t the first woman connected to an athlete to be unfairly blamed for any issues – people often assume she’s the one causing trouble.
She was really upset when the newest rumor about their dad – this one also involving their mother – reached her daughters.
Kelly recounted how children at school were bullying her daughters, telling them they might have to move because of issues with her – specifically, that she was ‘too loud.’ She shared on an August 2025 episode of *Sunday Sports Club* that her daughters came home asking if they would have to move because of her, which shocked her. She emphasized that the problem didn’t stem from the Rams organization.
As someone who really prioritizes wellness – I had surgery to remove a brain tumor back in 2019, so health is always top of mind for me – I was really frustrated by recent chatter. I’d mentioned having some stomach pain, and suddenly there was speculation about cancer. Honestly, it wasn’t okay with me, and it felt really insensitive.
In July 2023, Kelly posted on Instagram to clarify that rumors about her having cancer are false. She expressed frustration that journalists aren’t verifying information before reporting it, and said she usually wouldn’t bother addressing such baseless claims.
She emphasized that this is harmful because it distracts from and disrespects those battling this terrible illness, who are simply trying to survive, cherish their loved ones, and cope with the challenges they face every single day.
Kelly revealed in January 2025 that her twins needed to be hospitalized while the family was in Arizona for a playoff game, and she later explained what actually happened.
It started like the flu, but quickly became something worse,” Kelly explained to TopMob News a few weeks after her daughters recovered. “They developed additional infections that I didn’t realize were happening.” She also admitted to feeling guilty as a mom during that time.
So, she advised, “If your kid has the flu, just make sure you stay on top of it.”
Kelly was relieved to know her husband was alive and simply recovering from a back injury, which is why he wasn’t at Rams practice. Because of this, she enjoyed playfully sharing the story about his absence in August 2025.
She noticed something was off about him, and shared a wild theory she found on Barstool Sports to her Instagram Story. The headline claimed that Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford actually died a few weeks ago and was replaced by a clone.
Okay, so I pour my heart out on my podcast, I really do. It’s totally me, flaws and all, and honestly, I’m fine with being that open. But lately, I’ve been thinking about my daughters, and I worry they might not want all of this following them around when they’re older. That’s why I stopped mentioning their names, but it’s SO hard! Being a mom means sharing the good *and* the bad with your kids, and that’s basically what my podcast is all about. It’s just tough to completely separate them from my stories, you know?
