Will there actually be a second season, given how the finale ended, or will we be left with unanswered questions?

Will there be an Alien: Earth season 2?

While ‘Alien’ hasn’t been officially picked up for another season, the show’s creator, Noah Hawley, hopes it will continue.

Noah Hawley told Variety that the first season of the show is essentially a test run. If it’s successful with audiences, the second season will lay the groundwork for potentially continuing with seasons three, four, and five.

He explained that the show is intended to have multiple seasons, though he isn’t sure exactly how many there will be.

He explained that he thinks a story’s ending is what truly makes it significant, and that knowing the ending helps him shape the narrative.

He shared with the publication that he’d like to film future seasons somewhere other than Bangkok, where the first season was shot. He’s planning to discuss the best way to move production forward.

In a conversation with the TopMob Writers’ Room, Hawley shared how much of the story he’s already planned out.

He explained that every story has a journey and a goal, and to truly understand the story, it’s important to know what that goal is.

It’s not about having a complete plan right away, but knowing the general direction – like knowing what’s on the fifth or sixth floor. Writing a novel is similar; I don’t want to over-plan because that would ruin the fun of discovering the story as I go. I prefer to know just enough to get started, and then let the details unfold naturally.

The show’s renewal depends on how many people watch the first season, and we expect to have news about that soon. We’ll share any updates here as we receive them.

When would Alien: Earth season 2 be released?

We don’t know when a second season of Alien: Earth will come out, as it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

I have to say, getting the first season to the screen felt like a long journey! It was originally announced way back in 2020, but honestly, a lot of things kept getting in the way – not issues *with* the show itself, but major events like the Covid pandemic and then the Hollywood strikes in 2023. It’s understandable why it took so long, considering everything that happened.

Hopefully, the next season will come out much sooner than five years from now, and it sounds like Noah Hawley agrees.

He explained on the Evolution of Horror podcast that they’re trying to speed up production, asking, “How can we make things more efficient so fans don’t have to wait three, four, or even five years for the next installment?”

Interestingly, Hawley didn’t mention a two-year wait, which is about how long it might actually take. If so, we could be looking at a release in 2027.

We will keep this page updated as and when we get any news.

What would Alien: Earth season 2 be about?

It’s still unclear what the next season of Alien: Earth will be about, but it will likely continue the story immediately after the first season ended. We can expect to see Wendy and the Lost Boys now in charge of the research island they took from Prodigy’s Neverland.

By the end of the first season, Boy Kavalier, Kirsch, Dame Sylvia, Atom Eins, and Morrow were all imprisoned. Meanwhile, Wendy controlled the xenomorphs and managed to keep them contained, though it’s unclear if she’ll be able to maintain that control for much longer.

Noah Hawley explained to The Hollywood Reporter that an *Alien* movie focuses on a short, intense fight for survival. However, a TV show needs a longer, more complex storyline, meaning the creatures would have to be used in new and different ways.

While it’s important to use the creatures in a traditional way, we also needed to address the practical issue of how they could continue appearing on the show. If they killed everyone, or if we killed them all, that would be the end of the story. Introducing other creatures helped to relieve some of the pressure on the original monsters and allowed the narrative to continue.

The story also explores how people can be overly confident and make mistakes – like in Jurassic Park, where just because something *can* be done doesn’t mean it *should* be. It also touches on the innocence and lack of experience of children.

Children often have a tendency to romanticize situations, and in this case, she feels sympathy for the creatures – believing they didn’t choose to be here and shouldn’t be subjected to experimentation, especially given her own experiences. It’s easy to see why she feels that way. However, understanding her perspective doesn’t change the fact that befriending one of them would be dangerous.

I was really curious to see if other fans would be on board with this new direction. Honestly, I’m not thrilled with the idea of her having a xenomorph as a pet! But if it turns out they’ve actually formed some kind of alliance, that could open up some really cool story possibilities. Still, knowing this is a horror story, I have a feeling things probably won’t end well for anyone involved.

Considering everything, Wendy’s control of Neverland and her partnership with the xenomorphs probably won’t last long, and trouble could arrive quickly.

It’s possible she might need to team up with Boy Kavalier, the other synthetic beings, and the Prodigy crew to fight the aliens, even Arthur, who is still at large with an eye-dwelling creature. However, we’ll have to wait to see if that happens.

Who would return to star in Alien: Earth season 2?

If Alien: Earth got renewed for another season, we can anticipate seeing most of the original cast return, including Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, and Samuel Blenkin.

However, it seems less probable that Kit Young’s character, Tootles/Isaac, or Diêm Camille’s Siberian will be back, considering what happened to them in the story.

David Rysdahl’s character, Arthur, died, but an alien creature took over his body at the end of the season. This suggests he’ll return in a different form later on.

Here’s a list of the actors and characters we would expect to see back for Alien: Earth season 2:

  • Sydney Chandler as Wendy
  • Alex Lawther as Joe Hermit
  • Essie Davis as Dame Sylvia
  • Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier
  • Babou Ceesay as Morrow
  • Adarsh Gourav as Slightly
  • Erana James as Curly
  • Lily Newmark as Nibs
  • Jonathan Ajayi as Smee
  • David Rysdahl as Arthur Sylvia
  • Moe Bar-El as Rashidi
  • Adrian Edmondson as Atom Eins
  • Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh
  • Sandra Yi Sencindiver as Yutani
