As a big Strictly fan, I was really bummed to hear Dani Dyer had to pull out of the competition. But Shirley Ballas just gave us an update – she’s hinting at who they might bring in as a replacement! It’s good to know they’re already thinking about it and we won’t be down a contestant for long.
With the first show airing in just two days, many people have been wondering if Dani Dyer might be replaced. While it seemed improbable given the limited time, rumors have been circulating.
It’s happened before – celebrities have had to drop out of the show and been replaced. For example, Kelvin Fletcher stepped in for Jamie Laing right before the first live show in 2019.
Will Dani Dyer be replaced on Strictly Come Dancing this year? Here’s a look at the latest rumors and discussions surrounding her potential departure.
Will Dani Dyer be replaced on Strictly Come Dancing?
As of now, it’s still unclear if Dani Dyer will be replaced on Strictly Come Dancing in 2025.
Shirley Ballas, the head judge, mentioned on the show *This Morning* that producers were working quickly to resolve the issue.
I did talk to the executive producer about finding someone to fill the spot, and they’re working quickly to see if it’s possible. We’re currently short one dancer.
Honestly, it’s looking like someone’s probably going to be eliminated pretty early on – maybe even in the first week. But I’m really hoping everyone gets a fair chance and someone unexpected gets to shine.

Why did Dani Dyer withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing?
The BBC announced earlier this week that Dani Dyer had to withdraw due to a broken ankle she suffered while practicing.
Dani shared that she injured herself while practicing for the first live show. She first believed she’d simply sprained her ankle, but a scan revealed it was actually a fracture.
Dani explained that she has to withdraw from the show because doctors have advised against continuing to dance after discovering she had a fracture. She joked that attempting the quickstep with a broken bone wasn’t a good idea!
I’m truly devastated. I’m going to miss dancing with Nikita so much, but I’ll definitely be watching and supporting all the other couples.
There’s a chance Dani might be back on the dance floor next year, similar to how Jamie Laing returned after his injury. Judge Shirley Ballas praised Dani’s strong work ethic, saying she knew Dani would make a big impact on the show. Unfortunately, Dani injured her ankle yesterday – a small fracture – and will have to withdraw from the competition.
I talked to her yesterday, and she’s really upset and heartbroken. I reminded her that she could always try again next year, just like Jamie Laing did – he came back and even reached the final!
Nikita, Dani’s dance partner, shared similar feelings on Instagram. They posted a series of photos of the two of them with a caption expressing how upset they were that Dani was so enthusiastic about the show, and hoping they’ll be able to participate again next year.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 27th September at 6:55pm.
