Forza Horizon 6 will headline the Xbox 25th anniversary year — set in the one location fans have been crying out for

Phil Spencer, head of gaming at Microsoft, hinted at this earlier in the year. Leaks and rumors followed, and then an Instagram ad accidentally revealed it ahead of schedule.

Forza Horizon 6 was officially revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, and it will take place in Japan.

There’s no better place to announce the next Forza Horizon game than in the country where it’s set! Forza Horizon 6 will arrive in 2026, a milestone year for Xbox as it celebrates 25 years since the original console launched. This highly anticipated game is set to be a major highlight for Microsoft and Xbox fans alike.

A Japanese location is something fans have long requested, and it’s also the first time the Forza Horizon series has been set in Asia.

The Forza Horizon series has taken players to various locations around the world. The first game was based in the United States, followed by Southern Europe, then Australia. Finally, Forza Horizon 4 brought the action to the UK, where I live.

Forza Horizon 5, the latest installment and still receiving updates, takes place in Mexico. The Forza Horizon series is known for featuring diverse locations in each game, and we expect Forza Horizon 6 to continue that tradition with a brand new setting.

Japan is an ideal location for a Forza Horizon game. It offers a fantastic mix of lively cities, beautiful rural landscapes, and challenging mountain roads. Plus, Japan has a huge and passionate car scene, and its brands like Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Honda are famous worldwide.

Customizing cars is hugely popular in Japan, so we’re excited about the possibility of seeing some uniquely styled vehicles in Forza Horizon 6. The game will also feature a wide variety of cars from other countries, and based on past Forza Horizon titles, we can expect plenty of unexpected additions.

Aside from the title, location, and planned 2026 launch, we don’t have any other details yet. Xbox’s Matt Booty mentioned Japan was the most highly requested setting, and after being part of the gaming community for a while, I can confirm that’s definitely true.

Xbox has confirmed that more details about Forza Horizon 6 will be revealed next year, so fans will have to wait a bit longer to see what’s new. While we haven’t gotten a glimpse of the game’s locations or cars yet, the game is officially in development.
