Bellring Games recently shared an update on their dark fantasy RPG, *Mistfall Hunter*, during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 presentation. The video, available below, features game director Haoliang Zhang discussing the third beta test and expressing gratitude to the many players who participated.
Zhang discussed the backstory of *Mistfall Hunter*, explaining that the development team carefully added small details throughout the game to build a rich world. He mentioned that beta testers had already begun to uncover parts of the story, even figuring out secrets related to the Gyldenmist.
Zhang has announced that more content and features are on the way for all players of *Mistfall Hunter*. This includes a brand new playable map called the Solemn Needles, which is described as a pale, sacred forest. Players will also be introduced to the Divine Anchor within this new map.
The Solemn Needles area will gain several new locations to discover, including the remains of a massive giant called Hastines’s Fall. This site still holds a powerful godly energy linked to the giant’s demise. Players venturing into the Witchery Woods will also find hidden secrets as they prepare to confront the False God.
Throughout the year, Bellring Games has been testing its PvPvE RPG, *Mistfall Hunter*, with players through several beta tests. The second beta, held in April, introduced new areas like the Ember Iris for players to explore. A key focus of this test was the solo play experience, allowing players to enjoy the game without needing to team up with others.
After the second beta launched, the developers explained that players needed to manually aim their attacks, instead of the game automatically targeting enemies. They pointed out that this aiming system adds a layer of skill to the gameplay, but it might also make the game harder for new players to learn.
The current beta test for *Mistfall Hunter* is wrapping up later this week. It’s still unclear if there will be another test phase, or if the developers will move directly towards their goal of releasing the game in 2025.
This new RPG, first revealed in October 2024, is set in a dark fantasy world drawing heavily from Nordic mythology. Players will be able to choose from different classes, each with special abilities to help them succeed in both cooperative gameplay against enemies and competitive player-versus-player battles.
We don’t have a firm release date for *Mistfall Hunter* yet. It was initially planned to launch sometime this year and is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
