Julia Fox needs Taylor Swift’s critics to calm down.
The actress known for *Uncut Gems* publicly supported the singer, who is engaged to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, speaking out against online criticism aimed at athletes’ partners when their significant others don’t play well.
Julia recently told Pedestrian.TV that after Travis Kelce’s team lost a game, she was surprised to see people blaming Taylor Swift. She found the reaction absurd, noting a tendency to unfairly blame women.
Julia, 35, observed that blaming a player’s partner for their performance is a double standard often seen among sports fans.
She described how men often blame women when they lose at games. It’s illogical, and stems from the strange superstitions and irrational beliefs many men hold, ultimately leading them to unfairly blame women.
Julia went on, saying, ‘It’s as if people are realizing just how much influence we have.’ Then she asked, ‘Are you agreeing that we *are* powerful?’
Okay, so Travis is actually a really good guy, even if he *can* be intense on the field. He totally admitted he messed up with that hit on Xavier Worthy – poor Xavier hurt his shoulder in the first game, and Travis immediately took responsibility. It was during the September 5th opener, and he just owned it, which I really respect. It’s good to see him being accountable, you know? I mean, he’s not perfect, but he’s a great player and a decent human being, honestly.
Travis said on the September 10th episode of his podcast, *New Heights*, that he’s incredibly grateful to someone he calls ‘my guy.’ He admitted he felt terrible and could hardly play after finding out what happened, but he was relieved to learn the other person was doing better than he expected, which helped him regain his focus.
While Travis called the situation “frustrating,” he emphasized his desire to “be better.”
After 13 seasons in the league, he admitted there’s no excuse for accidentally colliding with his teammates.

Although Travis Kelce is now closely associated with Kansas City, Missouri, he actually spent his childhood in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
You know, as someone who pays attention to these little details, I’ve noticed something really endearing about this announcer. Instead of proudly mentioning where he went to college – the University of Cincinnati – he always gives a shout-out to his hometown! It’s such a personal touch and really shows where his heart is. It just feels more authentic when they introduce the players, and I think it’s a lovely way to connect with the audience.
Which, as you might guess, has irked some fellow alums.
I’ll always be grateful for my time at the University of Cincinnati – I really do cherish those years. But honestly, it wasn’t always easy. I went through a tough patch there, even had my scholarship taken away. I definitely made some mistakes, did a lot of things I’m not proud of. Knowing people from Cleveland Heights, I’m sure a lot of you can relate – I was definitely *that* guy who messed up sometimes!
You know, being from the Heights isn’t just personal for me, it’s everything. It’s about all of us who come from here – the incredible diversity really shapes who I am. Honestly, everything I do, whether it’s on or off the field, is for Cleveland Heights. I know it might sound a little cheesy, but I truly mean it. When you see me celebrating, when you see me letting loose, that’s me representing the Heights, representing all of you.
2. About that revoked scholarship…
Following a perfect 2009 season and a Big East championship, Travis tested positive for marijuana before the 2010 Sugar Bowl. This came after he partied excessively on New Year’s Eve while in New Orleans.
He didn’t just miss the bowl game-the NCAA suspended him for the entire 2010 season and took away his scholarship. This left him without housing or meals, so he moved in with his brother Jason, sharing a room with Jason and his teammates. To earn money, he took a job as a telemarketer, calling people to get their opinions on the Affordable Care Act.
They did, and Travis could not wait to get back on the field.
Before focusing on football, Travis played hockey, baseball, and basketball. He originally joined the University of Cincinnati as a quarterback, but after being suspended, he was allowed to rejoin the team only if he switched positions to tight end.
When I was drafted by the Chiefs in 2013, we already had a great quarterback in Zach Collaros, but we needed more support for both running and passing plays,” Travis explained to Arrowhead Pride. “I spoke with my coach, Butch Jones, and he felt a tight end was what we needed. Luckily, my abilities and athleticism fit the role perfectly, and it all worked out well for me.
He told *GQ* magazine in 2017, reflecting on a particularly embarrassing experience, that people had always seemed to think he was better suited to playing tight end.
Travis often hung out at the house on 127 W. Nixon Street with his teammate Jason and other members of the Bearcats, and they frequently had fun, often involving beer.
According to college friend and teammate Tom DeTemple, the brothers would spend hours playing Nintendo 64, often combining it with drinking games. He told the New York Times before the 2024 Super Bowl that they’d invent these games on the spot and were surprisingly skilled at them.
5. And suffice it to say, Travis is extremely proud of being a Bearcat.
Before the 2023 Super Bowl, the Chiefs player shared how much pride he has for his hometown and university. He explained that he recently earned his degree from the University of Cincinnati and makes an effort to support the school whenever possible, enjoying visits and reconnecting with former teammates and friends who have supported him through thick and thin.
Even when people doubted him, he said the players, coaches, and staff at the university believed in his ability to improve and succeed, which meant a lot to him at the time.
After nearly ten years away from school to pursue his football career, Travis completed his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2022. He finally received his diploma in April 2024 at a special, unexpected graduation ceremony held in Cincinnati after he and Jason recorded a live episode of their podcast, *New Heights*, at Fifth Third Arena.
As the graduate went to shake the dean’s hand in congratulations, he was already holding a beer and immediately drank it down.
And Travis was going to graduate in 2022 but he missed his flight.
Travis Kelce wasn’t one of the first tight ends drafted in 2013, largely because of some personal issues. He was actually the fifth tight end selected, going to the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round. Once Travis was on the team, coach Andy Reid – who had previously worked with Travis’s brother, Jason, in Philadelphia – asked Jason to give him a positive assessment of Travis’s character.
Andy and Travis have three Super Bowl rings to show for Jason’s endorsement.
Travis Scott used to listen to Randy Newman’s song “Burn On” before every game for years, though his pre-game music has since changed.
Growing up on the east side of Cleveland, this song always makes me reflect on my family and how grateful I am for my life, something I first shared on the PFT Live podcast back in 2017.
Let us explain: It’s in the opening credits of Major League, the ultimate Cleveland sports movie.
9. Everyone, including Travis, is mispronouncing his last name.
Everyone has been pronouncing Kelce as “Kel-see,” but the correct pronunciation actually rhymes with “else.”
The news came out when Chris Jones, Travis’ teammate, mentioned it on *Inside the NFL* back in January-he called it “absolutely wild.” Travis and his brother Jason later confirmed the story when they talked to their dad, Ed Kelce, on their *New Heights* podcast.
Jason was confused. “Seriously, why the sudden name change? And how did we all just *think* our name was Kel-see for so long – for my 27 years, and Trav’s 25?”
Ed admitted he “got tired of correcting people” but urged his son to “do whatever you want.”
As a lot of you know, I’m a big fan of personal touches, and Travis Kelce’s jersey number is a perfect example! He rocks the number 87 as a sweet nod to his older brother, Jason, who was born in ’87. It’s a really meaningful way for him to carry a piece of his family with him onto the field.
Travis Kelce shared with NFL Films that the story of his family’s NFL success – with both him and his brother Jason playing professionally – began in 1987, the year he was born. This was ahead of the 2023 Super Bowl, where his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, faced off against Jason’s Philadelphia Eagles.
Travis Kelce’s Eighty Seven & Running foundation has consistently supported Operation Breakthrough, a Kansas City nonprofit learning center. He first volunteered there in 2015, reading *The Cat in the Hat* to the children, and has been involved ever since.
Yes, reader, he wore the hat.
Since then, Travis has supported the program by funding its Smart Lab and purchasing the building next door. This allowed them to create the Ignition Lab, where students take apart old cars and rebuild them as functional electric vehicles, saving them from being scrapped.
Travis and Jason affectionately call their podcast listeners “92 percenters.” This nickname comes from a joke Jason made about a quarterback sneak – a short-yardage play – succeeding about 92% of the time when a team only needs one yard to score a touchdown.
Listeners loved the podcast so much they started calling themselves the “92 percenters,” as if it were a special inside joke, according to the podcast’s website.
Who were the Kelce brothers to argue with that?
Travis Kelce works with three trainers-Alex Skacel, Andrew Spruill, and Laurence Justin Ng-and typically has one of them travel with him to help him stay in peak condition for football throughout the year, according to The Athletic.
I remember Alex, a physical therapist himself, telling me about Travis. After a long day at Paris Fashion Week, seeing all the shows, Travis was really itching to get a workout in. He hadn’t had a chance to exercise that day, so he wanted to go for a late-night run to make up for it.
I was so amazed to read in the *New York Times* that my trainer was still pushing himself, even at midnight! Apparently, he was doing sprints over the bridges, and the reporter mentioned how he *always* makes time for whatever needs doing, no matter where he is. It’s incredibly inspiring to see that level of dedication.
Travis’s chef, Kumar Ferguson, is actually a childhood friend – they’ve known each other since fourth grade when they both lived in Cleveland Heights.
In 2016, he was a truck driver who enjoyed cooking as a hobby when Travis contacted him with a job offer.
Kumar recalled that the person said, ‘I really want to commit to a healthy diet and take it to the next level.’ Kumar responded that he immediately agreed, and just a few days later, he found himself in Kansas City.
He handles a wide range of tasks, from simple things like keeping Travis’ fridge full to making sure the Chiefs players get nutritious lunches at practice.
Travis Kelce has been getting a lot of attention for his facial hair lately. He recently shared on his podcast, *New Heights*, that he shaved his beard after the season in 2023 but kept his mustache to copy the look favored by his coach, Andy Reid, and decided to do it again in 2024.
In April 2024, Travis signed a two-year contract worth $34.25 million, making him the NFL’s highest-paid tight end for the first time.
Which finally put an end to years of chatter about how much money he wasn’t making.
You know, as someone who’s navigated the world of contracts and negotiations, I’ve heard this one a lot! A friend of mine, Travis, recently shared with *Vanity Fair* that his team always points the finger at the Kansas City Chiefs whenever he brings up wanting a raise. It’s a classic deflection – they tell *him* to be the one to ask for more money, rather than taking the lead themselves. It’s a frustrating situation, and honestly, pretty common when you’re in the public eye and dealing with complex finances.
Honestly, by that point, he was doing so well with other things that money just wasn’t his main focus anymore. He really prioritized feeling good about what he was doing over a big salary, and I totally admired that.
He said the idea of a free market seems good until you experience losing. He emphasized his enjoyment of success and satisfaction with his current position.
He admitted it’s tough seeing other players earn so much money. It makes him wonder if he’s being fairly compensated and if pushing harder would actually result in him getting what he deserves. Despite those thoughts, he genuinely enjoys his work and loves going to the facility every day.
Travis developed a passion for clothing early on, growing up in Cleveland Heights. He described his high school as a daily fashion show in a 2023 interview with *Vanity Fair*.
He turned a bedroom into a walk-in closet to store his expensive clothes and over 300 pairs of sneakers. He even splurged on a pair of size-13 Nike Air Mags with a significant part of his first professional paycheck, even though they didn’t quite fit.
He told the Wall Street Journal that early in his career, before sneaker apps were common, he’d just buy whatever size of shoe he could find in the style he wanted.
He’s a big fan of Nike, especially since they sponsor him, but he also loves Chuck Taylor sneakers. They remind him of Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez, the amazing baseball player from the movie *The Sandlot*.
18. Among his dozens of investments, Travis co-owns Ohio-brewed Garage Beer with Jason.
Travis shared in a statement last June that he enjoys a beer from time to time, so he’s thrilled to be an owner of Garage Beer and help create a great light beer. He believes there’s nothing quite like a cold beer to bring people together, and that’s what he and Jason value most about beer-connecting with friends and family and having a good time.
19. We’re sensing a theme when it comes to Travis’ guilty pleasure TV choices.
He reminisced about the TV show *Gossip Girl*, describing it on his podcast, *New Heights*, as a classic New York high school drama filled with gossip and people talking negatively about each other. He said it was ‘awesome’.
His new favorite show? Peacock’s Emmy-winning backstab-a-ganza The Traitors.
After 12 seasons in the NFL, 35-year-old Travis has recently been sharing more about the physical challenges of playing football.
He’s quietly endured a lot of hardship from the start of his career. It began when a knee injury-a small fracture-forced him to miss his first season, and it was the first of ten surgeries he’s undergone.
Travis Kelce recently shared on his podcast, *New Heights*, that he tried to give Taylor Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it while she was performing in Kansas City, but wasn’t able to.
She heard through mutual connections that Travis wanted to meet her, and then she reached out to him.
He told WSJ. Magazine that she explained the whole situation to him, and how he felt fortunate she contacted him.
Travis has always loved French toast, especially when it’s covered in whipped cream and syrup.
But more recently he’s become a fan of his girlfriend’s homemade Pop-Tarts and cinnamon rolls.
23. At least one of Travis’ ringtones is Chris Farley shrieking “For the love of God!” in Tommy Boy.
He told *WSJ. Magazine* that he’s eager to share his favorite comedians – like Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, and Will Ferrell – with Taylor. He explained, “I told her, ‘This is what I really love!'”
After the Chiefs won the AFC Championship in 2019, Travis Kelce shouted “You’ve got to fight for your right to party!” This led the team to begin playing the Beastie Boys’ song of the same name after every touchdown scored at home games in Arrowhead Stadium.
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach described Travis Kelce as a huge boost to team morale in a 2020 interview with ESPN. He explained that it’s difficult to measure exactly how valuable Kelce is, but that his positive energy, personality, and passion are contagious. Everyone in the Chiefs organization enjoys being around Kelce, and he consistently lifts the spirits, focus, and attention of those around him, all while keeping things fun.
The person who famously introduced the song into their life surprisingly didn’t learn all the lyrics to the 1986 hit until they had to sing it with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in February 2023.
I was so excited to hear Travis talk about Taylor’s music! He revealed in May 2024 that his top three favorite songs of hers are “Blank Space,” “The Alchemy,” and “So High School.” It’s amazing to get a peek into what he loves about her songwriting!
When asked about it in September, he’d changed his answer to say he loved them all-absolutely every single one.
People began comparing Travis Kelce to Tony Gonzalez, the Chiefs’ all-time great tight end who retired in 2013 after 17 seasons, very early in Kelce’s career.
Back in 2015, as people began to wonder if Travis could exceed Tony’s accomplishments – and how letdown everyone would be if he didn’t – Travis claimed he ignored all the talk.
I’m my own harshest critic,” he said to *Complex*. “I’m aiming for a record-breaking season – I want to have the best statistical year any tight end has ever had.”
In 2024, Travis became the Kansas City Chiefs’ all-time leader in receptions, breaking the previous record with his 917th catch.
Travis recently shared on the *New Heights* podcast how things often come back around. He pointed out that being a leader on the Kansas City Chiefs-a team with roots going back to the 1960s-feels special. He noted they’re one of the original teams that have remained successful and are still performing at a high level, largely thanks to their strong history and players like Tony Gonzalez, who Travis considers a mentor and greatly admires.
27. Of Travis’ many accomplishments, keeping his house in order on his own isn’t one of them.
“He can’t clean,” mom Donna Kelce told Extra in September 2024. “He can’t cook.”
Maybe having a visitor gave him the extra push he needed to get his life in order.
“He’s getting a little better,” Donna acknowledged. “I think he’s getting some help.”
