Spaceballs 2 Cast: Every Actor Confirmed & Which Star Wars Character They’re a Parody Of

Parody movies aren’t as big a hit as they used to be. In the early 2000s, you couldn’t go to the movies without seeing ads for films that playfully made fun of horror or superhero movies. However, those days have passed, largely because today’s big-budget films often lack the charm and originality that made them good targets for parody. But a fresh idea can change everything, and Josh Gad is trying to bring parody back. After discussing it with Mel Brooks, Gad started working on *Spaceballs 2*, a sequel to the beloved 1987 comedy *Spaceballs*.

Now that filming is about to begin, the cast for *Spaceballs 2* is set! Many of the original actors are returning, and they’ll be joined by some big names. Here’s a list of everyone confirmed to appear in *Spaceballs 2*, and which *Star Wars* character they’ll be spoofing.

9) Mel Brooks

Mel Brooks didn’t just direct *Spaceballs*; he also acted in it, playing two roles: President Skroob and Yogurt. Because Yogurt, a comical take on Yoda, first suggests making a *Spaceballs* sequel, it makes sense that he returns for the next film.

8) Rick Moranis

Rick Moranis, a famous comedian known for movies like *Ghostbusters* and *Honey, I Shrunk the Kids*, plays the character Dark Helmet, a leader from Planet Spacebell. His dark costume is a clear spoof of Darth Vader, one of the most iconic villains in movie history. Dark Helmet will face a challenge trying to measure up to Vader, particularly when it comes to physical fights.

7) Bill Pullman

In the movie *Spaceballs*, the villainous Planet Spaceball faces opposition from a team of heroes. The leader, Lone Star, portrayed by Bill Pullman, is a blend of both Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. Though his adventuring days might be over, he’s likely to offer valuable advice to those who follow in his footsteps.

6) Daphne Zuniga

Princess Vespa, played by Daphne Zuniga, is Lone Star’s love interest, and the target of the villain, Dark Helmet. Her role is quite similar to Princess Leia’s, which doesn’t suggest a smooth path for her relationship with Lone Star in the upcoming *Space Balls 2*. Luckily, she’ll have the support of her son when things get difficult.

5) George Wyner

George Wyner, who played Colonel Sandurz in the original *Spaceballs*, is the last cast member confirmed to return for the sequel. In the new film, Sandurz will take on a role similar to Grand Moff Tarkin from *Star Wars*, annoying Dark Helmet and repeatedly failing. This is a fun twist, as Tarkin dies in the first *Star Wars* movie, meaning Sandurz’s character is entering completely new territory.

4) Josh Gad

Similar to Brooks, Gad is keeping details about his role a secret, suggesting it’s connected to the original *Spaceballs* film. The most popular idea is that he’ll be playing the son of Barf, the Chewbacca-like character famously portrayed by the late John Candy.

3) Lewis Pullman

Finding an actor to play Lone Star’s son was likely easy, as Bill Pullman’s son, Lewis, is a rising star himself. The new movie, *Spaceballs 2*, will probably draw inspiration from the later *Star Wars* films, meaning Lewis’s character, Starburst, might have a bit of a Kylo Ren vibe. He could also take cues from Poe Dameron, who carried on the spirit of Han Solo in those films.

2) Keke Palmer

The upcoming movie *Spaceballs 2* is adding Keke Palmer to the cast to boost its comedy. She’ll play a character named Destiny, who seems to be a humorous take on the *Star Wars* character Rey. Like Rey, Destiny’s story will likely focus on discovering her origins and potential.

1) Anthony Carrigan

After recently appearing in *Superman*, Anthony Carrigan is joining the cast of a space-based project. While his character’s role is currently unknown, Carrigan often plays villains. Some fans speculate he might portray a character similar to Supreme Leader Snoke from *Star Wars: The Last Jedi*, a character whose demise has become a popular source of humor.

Spaceballs 2 hits theaters in 2027.
