Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood’s new rom-com and major career move confirms release date

Aimee Lou Wood’s brand new romantic comedy-drama, Film Club, is coming to screens very soon.

The new series is a writing debut for the actor known for *Sex Education*, and it will premiere on BBC Three at 10pm on Tuesday, October 7th.

If you can’t wait to watch, all episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer starting at 6am, before they air on BBC Three.

Let me tell you, this series has a fantastic cast! We’ve got James Wood leading the way, alongside the incredibly talented Suranne Jones, and Owen Cooper – you might recognize him from the recent Netflix hit, *Adolescence*, where he absolutely stunned viewers and even snagged an Emmy. He’s a real standout, and I’m excited to see what he brings to this new project.

The show centers around Evie, who has been housebound for six months following a difficult time. Her routine is disrupted when Noa shares some surprising news at their film club meeting.

According to the story summary, he’s moving across the country for a fantastic job, and this forces Evie and Noa to realize their feelings for each other might be something more than friendship.

The BBC has shared a trailer revealing Evie and her film club. They transform her mom’s garage to match the settings of the movies they watch, giving Evie some quality time with her best friend.

You can watch the full trailer below.

Arian Nik (known for *Daddy Issues*) and Fola Evans-Akingbola (*The Night Agent*) join the cast as Kam and Samantha, fellow members of the film club. Ralph Davis, who also created the series, plays Dominic, the club’s newest addition. Lisa McGrillis (*Rivals*) plays Steph, a friend and neighbor of Suz’s.

Wood explained that when she and Ralph first met ten years ago, they immediately connected and shared a desire to collaborate. She described the resulting series as a natural, unique, and perfect fit for their creative partnership.

Working with Jamie at Gaumont has been fantastic, and I’m thrilled the BBC is where this project landed. I’ve always loved writing, watching movies, and acting, so getting to combine all three – writing a story *about* movies and then being in it – is a dream come true.

Film Club begins on Tuesday 7th October at 10pm on BBC Three and iPlayer.
