The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a hugely successful film series and has become well-known as the driving force behind the popularity of superhero movies today. Starting with *Iron Man* in 2008, the MCU has grown to include a wide range of Marvel characters, faithfully adapting the comic books into both live-action films and animated series. While the heroes are the focus, compelling villains are also essential, and the MCU has introduced many memorable antagonists over the years.

It’s a common trend in Marvel Cinematic Universe movies that the heroes inadvertently create their own villains. Killmonger is often ranked among the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best villains, largely because his anger towards Wakanda feels understandable. A flashback in the 2018 film *Black Panther* reveals that T’Chaka, while Black Panther, killed his brother and left his nephew orphaned. This nephew ultimately became Killmonger, meaning T’Chaka’s past actions directly led to the creation of one of the biggest threats his son, the next Black Panther, would face.

Hank Pym is undeniably one of the smartest people in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his choices unintentionally created several enemies. His poor treatment of Darren Cross and lack of trust pushed Cross to develop his own version of Pym’s shrinking technology, turning him into the villain Yellowjacket.
