New Daredevil: Born Again Star Already Wants To Jump Over To The DCU

Movies like *Scream*, *SLC Punk*, and *Scooby Doo* might seem different from the second season of *Daredevil: Born Again*, but they all share one thing in common: Matthew Lillard. He’s likely to appear in an iconic costume, marking his first role in the Marvel universe. He’ll be joining returning cast members Charlie Cox (as Matt Murdock), Deborah Ann Woll (as Karen Page), and Elden Henson (as Foggy Nelson), though his specific role is currently unknown. In a recent interview, Lillard described his part as small, but expressed hope that fans will enjoy it and he’ll be brought back for more.

Putting aside talk about his role as Daredevil, Damian Lillard recently told an audience at LACC that he’s hoping James Gunn will consider him for a future project. He joked that he’s been waiting for the call and feels like the invitation might have gotten lost in the mail.

Who Matthew Lillard Could Play In The DCU

I really believe James can make this work – he’s got the talent to succeed. And Matthew would be fantastic as the Joker!

That’s a big ask, particularly since Damian Lillard is also reprising his role in the latest *Scream* movie and will be in the *Five Nights at Freddy’s* sequel alongside his *Scream* co-star, Skeet Ulrich. Lillard explained that he and Ulrich both bring a genuine love and appreciation for the franchises they’re a part of, which is exactly what fans want to see!

It’s unclear which DC Universe character Damian Lillard will play, but fans on X (formerly Twitter) have plenty of ideas. Suggestions ranged from lesser-known villains like Man-Bat and the Riddler, to more popular choices like Hal Jordan and Eobard Thawne. Many believe Lillard could deliver an incredible performance as the Joker, and it’s a role we think he’d excel at.

The most popular idea, however, was a crossover between Scooby-Doo and the DCU, with James Gunn directing. Gunn previously worked with Lillard on the Scooby-Doo movies, where Lillard famously voiced Shaggy.
