7 Man of Steel Mistakes You’ll Never Be Able to Unsee

The DC Extended Universe hasn’t exactly been praised for its films. Though some movies like *The Suicide Squad* and *Wonder Woman* have been well-received, the franchise as a whole hasn’t lived up to its potential. The problems started early on with Zack Snyder’s approach, which focused on immediately pushing heroes to their breaking points instead of letting them develop naturally. Superman, in particular, faced a lot right away. In *Batman v Superman* alone, he had to contend with his mother being taken hostage, battle Batman, and ultimately sacrifice himself to defeat Doomsday.

At the beginning of *Batman v Superman*, Superman is struggling with the fallout from the battle in *Man of Steel*. The destruction of Metropolis, caused by his fight with Zod, leads most people to blame him. While it’s difficult to watch a superhero battle so intensely in a populated city, that’s not the movie’s biggest flaw. Here are seven mistakes from *Man of Steel* that you’ll notice every time you watch it.

7) Major Carrie Farris

After the fight in Metropolis, the U.S. government wants to monitor Superman, but he resists their surveillance. He confronts General Swanwick and his aide, Carrie Farris, about it. Interestingly, after Superman flies off, Swanwick calls Farris “captain,” while the show’s closing credits list her as a “major.”

6) The Fishing Boat Rope

Clark Kent tries to hide his superpowers, so he takes on various jobs, like working on a fishing boat. It’s a risky job, and he constantly has to be alert. One time, a broken rope fell onto the deck, but when Clark went to gather it, he found it neatly bundled instead.

5) Zod’s Message

General Zod certainly knows how to make a dramatic arrival. After escaping the Phantom Zone with his followers, he comes to Earth to announce to the world that aliens have been living among them. In the movie *Man of Steel*, Superman travels the globe checking people’s reactions, but something seems off – it’s night everywhere he goes, which doesn’t make sense.

4) The Gash on Zod’s Face

At the beginning of the movie, Zod is upset with the path Krypton is taking, leading to a conflict with his old friend, Jor-El. Although Jor-El is a scientist, he briefly overpowers Zod and cuts his face. However, the cut strangely vanishes in one particular shot and isn’t visible throughout the whole scene.

3) The Lights Are Still On

It’s common for viewers to find small flaws in movies that are a bit older, like *Man of Steel*. Recently, a sharp-eyed fan noticed something about the city of Metropolis during the final battle between Zod and Superman: the lights stayed on despite all the destruction. Typically, that level of damage would cause a blackout, but the director, Zack Snyder, chose not to show complete darkness.

2) Bus 6370

The movie *Man of Steel* features a lot of destruction, making it difficult to notice details amidst all the chaos. One viewer noticed something odd: a bus with the number 6370 is destroyed, but then reappears later completely intact. While it’s common for filmmakers to reuse props, they usually try to hide it better.

1) Lois Lane’s LCD Screen

It’s a bit of a buzzkill to nitpick details when stories involve gods and monsters, but one thing stood out: Lois Lane easily uses high-tech equipment in the Arctic. An LCD screen like the one in the Kryptonian ship wouldn’t actually work well in those freezing temperatures.

Man of Steel is streaming on HBO Max.
