We’ve played PS5 shooter Pragmata three times now.
As a big fan, I have to say it’s pretty awesome getting so much early access to this new game! It really seems like Capcom is pushing hard to show everyone what makes this shooter different from all the others, and they want us to know about it before it even comes out.
Okay, so at first glance, this game seemed like just another third-person action title – we’ve talked about it before. But honestly, the way you can hack things – it’s like solving puzzles *while* you’re fighting, and it gives the whole game a really unique feel. It’s not what I expected, and I’m digging it!
Our newest demo revisited the familiar location from our earlier tests, but this time with a key addition: players can now use the Shelter as part of the game.
The Shelter is a safe haven for Hugh and Diana, offering them a place to return to throughout their journey. It’s accessible via monorails and checkpoints scattered across the game’s mostly straightforward world. Once back at the Shelter, players can create essential items and improve their weapons.
During our brief time with the game, we didn’t get a chance to fully build up hacking abilities, but you’ll be creating chips that fit onto a puzzle board. These chips will either break through enemy defenses or let you hack multiple enemies with a single attack.
These upgrades give you a preview of how the game will progress, and we can’t wait to see how strong Hugh and Diana get as you play through it.
You can improve your heroes by investing data cubes you find throughout the levels. For instance, upgrading Diana will increase her attack power, and upgrading Hugh will make his weapons more effective.
We’ve noticed the demo is noticeably harder than in our earlier tests – some fights that were easy before are now quite challenging. Capcom is still fine-tuning things, but it makes sense that they’d increase the difficulty now that upgrade systems have been added, creating a more engaging gameplay experience.
Honestly, we’ve played this part of the game a *lot* now, and it’s starting to feel a little repetitive, but we still think Pragmata is shaping up to be one of the most exciting games coming out in 2026. As a fan, I’m still really hopeful!
This game is a genuinely refreshing shooter, offering gameplay you’ll recognize, but with exciting new twists that really elevate the experience.
Next year promises a lot of exciting new games, and this Capcom title is expected to be among the very best, even with so much competition.
Are you still excited about Pragmata? After everything you’ve seen, have you decided if it’s a game you’ll be interested in? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
