Will there be a Sakamoto Days season 2? Potential release date & where to start the manga

As someone who’s been completely hooked on Netflix’s anime releases this year – especially Sakamoto Days! – I know a lot of us are eagerly waiting for news about season 2. I’ve been checking constantly to see if they’ve announced a release date yet, and I’m guessing you probably are too!

I was really struck by the streaming service’s take on Yuto Suzuki’s manga. It’s about a former hitman who now runs a convenience store and has a family, and it really delivered. The show blended the exciting, anime-style action you see in something like John Wick with a lot of over-the-top comedy and just completely wild action sequences. It was a surprisingly effective mix!

Even so, after the season 1 finale – episode #22, titled Each One’s Mission – there hasn’t been much news about a potential Sakamoto Days season 2, or the 23rd episode that would kick it off.

With that in mind, we’ve gathered all the current information to give you an idea of how probable another season of the popular anime is, and a possible timeframe for its release.

Will there be a Sakamoto Days season 2?

As of today, a second season of Sakamoto Days hasn’t been officially announced, but given how popular the anime has become, another season is highly likely. The first season was a hit with both reviewers and viewers, racking up 24 million views in just the first six months – according to Netflix’s report in July.

Okay, so it wasn’t *the* most-watched show on the platform overall – Naruto actually pulled in 45 million views, which is incredible! But honestly, that’s still a huge number, especially when you consider this is a completely new anime series. I’m really excited to see where it goes from here!

After the first season concluded with its last episode on September 22nd, 2025, it will probably be a while before we hear any news about a second season of Sakamoto Days. This is typical for anime, and particularly common with studios like TMS Entertainment, who produce Sakamoto Days.

Despite the anime’s popularity and the fact that there are still many chapters left to adapt, we believe discussions about a second season of Sakamoto Days are likely happening.

When could a potential Sakamoto Days season 2 release date be?

Considering how busy the animation studio is, we predict that Sakamoto Days season 2 (beginning with episode 23) might be released around early 2027 for the first part, and then the second part in the summer of 2027.

We initially anticipated a release sometime between early and mid-2026. However, TMS Entertainment, the studio creating Sakamoto Days, is known for its dedicated and multi-tasking team. They frequently work on several anime series simultaneously – including Rent-a-Girlfriend, Dr. Stone, and Honey Lemon Soda – and seamlessly transition between seasons as they are ready.

Because of this, we think the second season of Sakamoto Days might be delayed. Previous seasons of other shows from TMS Entertainment have typically taken at least a year to create.

I’ve noticed that Netflix often focuses on shows that are already doing well, and that makes me think TMS Entertainment might be able to move quickly with the next part of Sakamoto Days. It seems like a good opportunity for them to push things forward, given Netflix’s preferences. It will be interesting to see what happens.

We’ll keep this guide updated with the latest news. As soon as we learn anything about a possible release date for episode 23 of Sakamoto Days, we’ll share it here.

Didn’t Sakamoto Days season 2 already air?

I noticed that what many thought was season 2 of Sakamo Days is actually the second half of season 1. It’s what’s called a second cour – basically, a continuation of the first season that finished airing in September 2025. It’s a common practice in anime production.

In anime, a cour is a group of 10-14 episodes. This block can represent an entire season of a show, or it can be one of two parts that together make up a full season of 20 to 26 episodes. Sometimes there’s a break between cours, while other times they air consecutively with new intro and outro sequences – a good example is the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen. However, both parts – or cours – are still considered a single anime season.

Sakamoto Days season 1 followed a two-part structure: episodes 1 through 11, which aired from January to March 2025, formed Part 1. Then, episodes 12 to 22, released between July and September 2025, comprised the second cour and completed Part 2.

Considering there are still many manga chapters remaining, if Sakamoto Days season 2 gets renewed, we anticipate it will likely follow a similar structure to previous seasons.

Where to pick up the Sakamoto Days manga after season 1

After finishing season 1 with episode 22, the Sakamoto Days anime adapts up to chapter 73 of the manga. If you’d like to continue the story, you can start reading from chapter 74 of the manga onwards.

There might be some overlap with content from episode 22 and after chapter 73, but since Sakamoto Days season 1 effectively began with the Japan Clear Creation arc, it’s best to start there. This ensures consistency and helps you avoid missing important details.

I’ve noticed that Sakamoto Days is currently available to watch only on Netflix, at least in the UK, the US, and many other countries around the world. As of today, it doesn’t seem to be showing up on Crunchyroll or any other similar anime streaming platforms.
