With rumors circulating about a new PS5 Pro being developed by Sony, sources suggest a refreshed DualSense controller is also in the works. It seems Sony is preparing both a more powerful console and an updated controller for release.
So, I’m hearing another rumour, this time from PPE, the Polish site that correctly predicted Microsoft Flight Simulator 24 was coming to PS5. They were right about that one, which gives them a bit of credibility in my book, so I’m definitely paying attention to what they say now! It seems like they’ve earned some trust with that accurate call.
So, the rumored update to the DualSense controller will reportedly include a removable battery – a feature that hasn’t been available on any official PlayStation controller so far.
A removable battery lets you take the battery out if needed. For instance, if your DualSense’s battery life suddenly gets really short, it’s much simpler to just replace the battery itself.
Naturally, this brings up several questions about how Sony might continue to profit from controller accessories. Specifically, what price point do you anticipate for official DualSense battery packs? We’re curious to hear your thoughts!
(Just being playful for a moment,) but if these rumors are true, we expect to see more details emerge soon.
Would you be interested in a DualSense controller with a battery you can take out and replace? And do you think Sony might find a way to make it even more expensive? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
