Why Rod Stewart’s Wife Gave Stepdaughter Kimberly Stewart Breast Milk

Penny Lancaster is all for love when it comes to her stepdaughter. 

The 54-year-old shared that she helped her husband Rod Stewart‘s daughter, Kimberly Stewart, when she had trouble producing enough breast milk for her daughter, Delilah Del Toro (whose father is Benicio Del Toro), who is now 13.

Back then, Penny-who married Rod, 80, in 2007-was also nursing her and the musician’s son Aiden Stewart, now 14, even though she wasn’t having the same problem herself.

“It felt like a special connection as a new mother,” she shared with The Times in an interview released on September 29th. “The lactation consultant explained, ‘Ideally, you’d have someone familiar with breastfeeding to guide you,’ and everyone immediately looked at me.

After thinking it over, Penny-who is also a mother to 19-year-old Alastair Stewart with Rod-agreed to help Kimberly, 46, by providing some of her breast milk. Penny said Kimberly was at first hesitant about accepting help and becoming part of their combined family.

“I remember thinking, ‘What’s the most important thing for this child?’” she recalled. “I knew my milk would give her the nutrients and antibodies she needed.”

Also, Penny’s connection with Kimberly-who shared earlier this year that she’s expecting her second child-isn’t the only positive relationship in her life.

Actually, the previous interview showed she’s also resolved a long-standing disagreement with Rachel Hunter, Rod’s former wife and the mother of his children, Renee Stewart, 33, and Liam Stewart, 31. (Rod also has other children – Sarah Streeter, 61, Sean Stewart, 45, and Ruby Stewart, 38 – from previous relationships.)

“It felt like a really long journey,” Penny confessed. “When Rachel and I initially met, it was as if we lived in completely different worlds.”

Despite their initial differences, the two women have since become close and developed a “special relationship.” As one of them explained, “We actually have a lot in common. We both shared a love for the same man, and we’re raising these wonderful, beautiful children together.”

Regarding Penny and Rod’s relationship, she believes they will enjoy many more years together as a married couple.

He came up with this incredible goal – to become the fastest 80-year-old! It’s amazing. So, he actually built a 200m sprinting track right in our garden so he could practice. Honestly, he’s like a teenager again – full of energy and really living life to the fullest. We’re all trying to keep up with him, but he just keeps raising the bar! It’s truly inspiring.

Penny added, “He’s promised me 20 years, so I’m seeing 100.”

While she noted people have a lot to say about her being 10 years old than the Jonas Brother singer, she suggested this wouldn’t be the case if it were the other way around.

“People gave us a lot of s–t about that and still do,” Priyanka told InStyle. “I find it really amazing when you flip it and the guy is older, no one cares and actually people like it.”

And if you were to ask the Fifty Shades of Grey director, she’d tell you that the 23-year age difference between her and the Kraven the Hunter actor rarely crosses their minds.

“It honestly never does,” she explained in a 2024 interview with The Guardian. “It only comes up now because you’re bringing it up. And it’s something people outside of our relationship tend to focus on, probably because we’re a bit unusual. But after 14 years together, you’d think it wouldn’t be a big deal anymore, right?”

Sam also noted that her relationship with Aaron has actually lasted longer than her marriage to her former husband Jay Jopling, who was approximately four years her senior.

It’s definitely not a secret how Kristin felt about the 13-year age difference with her former boyfriend Mark Estes. 

“I wasn’t looking to date someone who was 24,” The Hills star explained on her Let’s Be Honest podcast in March 2024. “It was something I never expected, and if you listen to the podcast, you know I used to think 30-year-olds were too young for me.” 

Kristin acknowledged how it might “look to others,” but she maintained that Mark wasn’t like most 24-year-olds and that a person is more than just their age.

When I think back to being 24, so much has happened since then. Those years are incredibly important – they shape who you become – and he needs the chance to discover himself.”

Despite everything, she described their relationship as “the best” she’s ever had and hopes Mark will eventually see that their separation was a positive thing.

“I’m confident that someday he’ll look back and understand,” she continued, “and I honestly believe he’ll even thank me for it.”

When the Oscar-winning actor first developed feelings for the lawyer, he wasn’t sure if she reciprocated.

“I was attracted to her, but I didn’t want to rush things,” George explained on The Howard Stern Show regarding the beginning of his relationship with Amal. “I wasn’t sure if she felt the same way. I was 17 years older than her, so she might have seen me as an older man.”

Despite his initial concerns, she actually felt the same way, and the couple married in 2014.

Age isn’t a factor for the Bachelor graduate, despite being 18 years older than his wife. He explained on his The Viall Files podcast in March 2025 that, “Physical attraction is important when there’s a significant age difference.”
