Jason Statham’s The Beekeeper 2 is adding new actors as filming gets underway. This film follows the first The Beekeeper, which came out in January 2024. The original movie, directed by David Ayer, earned approximately $162 million globally and was well-received by critics. Plans for the sequel were revealed in February 2025.
The Beekeeper 2 cast brings back more actors from first movie
According to Variety, the original stars of The Beekeeper – Jemma Redgrave, Bobby Naderi, and Emmy Raver-Lampman – will return for the sequel, alongside Jason Statham.
Plus, Yara Shahidi has joined the cast. Jeremy Irons will be back for the next film as well. Although filming is underway, the story details are still a secret. Recently, director Timo Tjahjanto shared the new logo for The Beekeeper 2 on Instagram.
Previously, Tjahjanto mentioned his desire to portray Jason Statham’s character, Adam Clay, as his take on The Punisher. In an August interview with Screen Rant, the director explained, “I was really captivated by the Beekeeper series because it felt like Statham was playing a character similar to one of my favorites in the Marvel universe – The Punisher.”
He added that if he wasn’t able to get the Punisher movie made, he’d rework the character of Adam Clay to be his own take on the vigilante. He believes Jason Statham possesses the necessary traits, noting he has a similar, very reserved and Frank Castle-like demeanor.
During a MovieWeb interview that same month, Tjahjanto shared a small preview of what might happen in a follow-up film, explaining, “I’m really excited, to be honest, because Beekeeper is definitely one of those movies that carefully balanced a delicate line.”
The filmmaker also explained, “I’m really drawn to the strange and unusual world of Beekeeper, with its secret agents and over-the-top action, you know? But at the same time, there’s a genuine and sincere quality to it. It can be quite violent and unexpectedly realistic.”
