With the X-Men getting ready to officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, talk is starting about which villains they’ll face. A source has hinted at two powerful mutants who are likely to appear in the MCU, as well as a promising new project involving Ryan Reynolds.
According to The Game Post, Marvel insider Daniel Richtman revealed on his Patreon page some future plans for the MCU. The next major storyline will supposedly center around two famous X-Men villains following the conclusion of Phase Six with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Reports indicate that Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse, both popular mutant characters, will be the primary antagonists. While Apocalypse was featured in Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse, this would be his first appearance in the MCU, potentially creating significant challenges for the entire Marvel Universe.
Richtman revealed that Marvel’s current plans for the next big storyline involve ,” he said. It seems that no actors have been officially chosen for either role yet, but the studio does have “some names they have in mind.”
Richtman also shared some interesting news about Ryan Reynolds and his character, Deadpool. Reports suggest Reynolds is working on a movie that would bring together a team of mutants for Marvel’s upcoming stories. It’s unclear whether this movie will connect to the existing Marvel universe or be a separate project. There’s also a chance Reynolds might only be involved creatively, and Deadpool himself might not even be in it.
According to Richtman, Ryan Reynolds is planning a movie bringing together his own team of mutants for the next phase of stories,” he stated. It’s worth remembering that while Richtman is a reliable source, fans should be cautious about believing everything at this stage, as things can change. This is especially true with Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars still over a year away.
Mr. Sinister & Apocalypse Could Spell Big Trouble for the MCU’s X-Men Debut
Whether Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon is still unknown. Both are famous characters; Mr. Sinister first showed up in 1987’s The Uncanny X-Men #221. He’s a supervillain fixated on genetically engineering a perfect race of superhumans, and is frequently depicted as an ally to the villain Apocalypse.
Alongside allies like Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse continues to be a formidable Marvel villain, standing with greats such as Thanos and Doctor Doom. As one of the very first mutants, Apocalypse is among the most powerful entities in the Marvel Universe and is the original creator of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He originated in Ancient Egypt millennia ago, initially enslaved, but he harnessed his immense abilities to overcome his captors and ascended to godlike status, becoming a globally worshipped figure.
More details about Marvel’s X-Men plans are expected to emerge in the coming months.
