Blue Ivy Carter, 14, Makes Met Gala Debut as One of Youngest Guests

It’s time to once again bow down to Blue Ivy Carter.

Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy, stepped into the spotlight at her first Met Gala in New York City on May 4th, making a stylish appearance on the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

For the 2026 fundraiser, the teenager chose a cream-colored, off-the-shoulder dress with a long train, paired with a matching jacket, to fit the ‘Costume Art’ theme. Her daughter mirrored her style, sporting long, curly ombré hair, cool sunglasses, and sparkly heels.

Taylor Swift, co-chairing this year’s Met Gala with Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, turned heads in a breathtaking dress. The skeleton-inspired gown featured a long, feathered train and a stunning jeweled headpiece.

Beyoncé finished her high-fashion outfit with a hairstyle that matched her daughter’s, and dazzling diamond earrings.

Jay Z looked sharp in a traditional black tuxedo, a great match for his wife of almost 20 years as they enjoyed a family outing.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Beyoncé is BACK at the Met Gala after ten whole years! I seriously lost it when I saw her on the steps. And can we talk about Blue Ivy being there with her?! It was the sweetest, most perfect thing ever – a total full-circle moment for Queen Bey, and honestly, for all of us fans. It felt like Destiny’s Child all over again, and I’m still not over it!

Being here with my daughter feels unreal,” Beyoncé shared with Vogue at the event. “She’s absolutely stunning, and it means so much to experience this with her. I just think she looks amazing.”

Beyoncé last appeared on the front steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in 2016, at a gala with the theme “Manus x Machina.”

Beyoncé celebrated with a striking, form-fitting latex gown from Givenchy Haute Couture. The dress, in a skin-toned color, had detailed beading and dramatic, exaggerated shoulders.

Why hasn’t the 44-year-old attended the Met Gala for ten years? Simply put, when she’s not incredibly busy with work, she cherishes spending her limited free time at home with her family.

As a mom, balancing work and family is everything to me. I really prioritize building my schedule around my kids’ lives. For example, I prefer to tour when they’re on school breaks. Honestly, I’ve always envisioned a life where I can share the world with my children – letting them experience different cultures, languages, and ways of living. It’s about creating those memories together, and that’s what’s most important to me.

Plus, parenting a teenager and two soon-to-be tweens is a full-time job in itself.

“It’s definitely challenging to raise three children,” she said. “As they grow up, they each develop their own personalities, interests, and friends, which means their needs become more and more different.”
