Blake Lively’s Met Gala Fashion Has Hidden Detail to Her 4 Kids

Spotted: Blake Lively on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Oh my gosh, I was screaming when I saw her! Lily—Lily Bloom, obviously—she finally came back to the Met Gala after everything with Justin Baldoni, and she absolutely killed it! She looked incredible in this vintage Versace gown—it’s from 2006, can you believe it?—and it was all bright and colorful, perfect for the ‘Fashion Is Art’ theme. I seriously couldn’t take my eyes off her. I need pictures, I need everything! I’m still obsessing over it!

For the “Costume Art” event, Blake Lively carried a unique purse decorated with artwork created by her and Ryan Reynolds’ four children: James, 11, Inez, 9, Betty, 6, and Olin, 3.

“This is a Judith Leiber bag,” she told Vogue. “We wanted to feature a well-known, iconic work of art on it, making it look like a framed painting.”

I then asked if they could frame my children’s artwork as a custom project. Each of my four kids painted a watercolor, and I thought it was a really special idea, so I had them framed and kept them.

And the purse gave Blake the strength she needed for fashion’s biggest night.

She admitted she was also shy and felt more comfortable with her children nearby. She jokingly added that she could have even hidden them under her dress.

Blake Lively is a familiar face at the Met Gala and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She famously filmed scenes for Gossip Girl on the museum’s iconic staircase and has attended the annual ball regularly since 2008, when she first appeared in a feathered black Ralph Lauren gown for the “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” themed event.

She’s consistently improved her style, quickly becoming a fashion icon. A standout moment was at the 2022 Met Gala, where she co-hosted with Ryan and wore a stunning Versace gown. The dress dramatically changed colors – from copper to mint green – to reflect the aging process of the Statue of Liberty’s copper exterior.

The outfit was so famous, it was even displayed at Kensington Palace’s Crown to Couture exhibit. When Blake Lively visited to see it, she playfully adjusted the skirt to make sure it looked just right, even going so far as to step past the barrier around the display!

She described the experience as totally unreal in an Instagram post. She added that wearing gowns and jewelry still feels like a playful game of dress-up for her.

Blake added, “To see it memorialized like this… just. Wow. Something I’ll never forget.”
